Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, with neither a victim nor evidence, accuse Robert Mueller of “brutal rape”

[Online activist Claude Taylor rides the Holliday Inn elevator with pro-Trump grifters Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman after inflating his giant rat in the hotel’s parking lot.]

I know I should be writing about the soaring federal deficit and Republican efforts to eliminate protections for pre-existing conditions, but I feel obligated to follow up on something that we were discussing yesterday… the poorly executed plot by right-wing conspiracy theorists Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman to frame special prosecutor Robert Mueller for the crime of rape.

As promised, Wohl and Burkman held their big press conference today, and it went just abut as poorly as we all imagined that it would, starting with Mueller’s alleged victim not showing up, and ending with Wohl being fired from The Gateway Pundit, the right-wing website for which he worked as a columnist. [Let this be a lesson to all the professional right-wing trolls. It’s one thing to suggest, using a ton of coded racist language, that George Soros may be financing a caravan of would-be immigrants from South America, who may be disease-ridden terrorists, who may want to murder our families. It’s quite another to call the former Director of the FBI a serial rapist. The latter opens one up to incredible legal exposure, the likes of which could very easily cost one their job. The other just leads to racist bloodshed and mass murder.]

Today’s press conference was a fucking mess from the get-go. Burkman walked to the podium, his zipper completely undone, declaring that his client, who was “brutally raped” by former FBI Director Mueller, would not be appearing, as was promised. Burkman and Wohl then explained that she would not be coming forward as she was “fearful for her life,” and did not want to be identified. Then, almost immediately, they proceeded to give her name. “Carolyne Cass,” they said, “is a gal who has an illustrious background… (having) gone to schools all over the world.” [People in the audience laughed out lout at this.] Here’s brief clip from the press conference, to give you a sense as to just how poorly thought out and executed this whole thing was.

If you’d like to know more about what transpired, I’d suggest reading the Twitter feeds of Alexander Nazaryan of Yahoo News, Will Sommer of the Daily Beast, Jared Holt of Right Wing Watch, and internet activist Claude Taylor, all of whom were on hand for the big event. With that said, though, here are a few highlights.

• Wohl, who is only 20 years old, said that “Miss Cass hired (his) firm” on behalf of her “estate,” to deal with a “matter of a dishonest accountant.” He said that, having successfully dealt with this matter, she then asked him to “see if there was anything to (her claim)” that Robert Mueller had raped her at the St. Regis Hotel on, or around, August 2, 2010. It wasn’t exactly clear why Cass would reach out to a boy with no experience in such things, who was really only known to most people as the youngest person ever to earn lifetime ban from participating in U.S. financial markets, to investigate a “dishonest account,” or why she’d then turn around and hire that same person to verify her rape claim, but, according to Wohl, that’s exactly what happened. [Do people generally hire private detectives to verify whether or not there’s “anything to” their rape claims? Admittedly, I don’t have a lot of experience in this area, but that seems odd to me.]

• In making the case that he believed the narrative attributed to Cass, Wohl said that, as “the biggest skeptic in the world of the MeToo movement” his “default is to not believe the accuser.” In this case, though, he said they’d throughly vetted every aspect of her story, and everything, according to him, had checked out. Given the fact that, during the press conference, the two men couldn’t even agree to the spelling of the woman’s name, I’m doubtful how thorough their fact-checking was, but, channelling Donald Trump, they said they found “her credibility to be very high, very high.” [Getting back to my last point, does anyone else find it odd that the 20 year old Wohl repeatedly referred to this alleged rape victim as a “gal”?]

• At some point during the proceedings, Burkman said of Wohl, “I think Jacob is a child prodigy who has eclipsed Mozart.” A heckler, at this point, I believe, then yelled out that Wohl, given the previously mentioned ban from the futures market, “couldn’t even open an eTrade account.”

• Asked about his involvement with Surefire Intelligence, the shell company through which, it would appear, Wohl had been reaching out to women and offering cash in return for false stories about being sexually attacked by Robert Mueller, and why he’d denied any involvement with the company until it was discovered that the Surefire site had be registered with his mother’s phone number, the young rat fucker responded that, “It was important that (he) preserve (his) anonymity” at the time, given the status of the investigation. [According to the Surefire site, the company was launched by former intelligence agents in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. These people, it would appear, never existed. And how enormous of a coincidence is it that, while Wohl was reaching out to women, offering them money to lie about being sexually attacked by Mueller, this existing client of his, Carolyne Case, just happened to ask him to investigate a rape charge against Mueller? Small world, right?]

• As people pointed out during the press conference, on the date that Wohl and Burkman claim that their client was “brutally raped” by the Robert Mueller in New York City, it’s well established that the former Director of the FBI was was in Washington, DC, having been called for jury duty.

• At some point, a member of the audience yelled out, “Are you both prepared for federal prison?” Burkman replied that they were not.

• Wohl claimed that a number of photos of him on the internet had been faked. He was particularly upset by one that appears to show him “in a corn costume.”

I know that I don’t need to tell you this, but this is why, come Tuesday, you really need to vote, and restore some degree of integrity to Washington. What we saw today is just a taste of what’s to come if we allow Trumpism to continue unchecked. There truly is no bottom when it comes to how far these con men and grifters will go when it comes to ingratiating themselves to Trump and his wealthy corporate enablers, who are desperate to remain in control. And, I’m afraid that, if we don’t stop them, and do so decisively, society may not survive.

I should add that, unlike Wohl and Burkman, I really do take allegations of sexual misconduct seriously, and, had this charge against Mueller come to the surface in a different way, I would not be posting this here today. As it is, though, I think it’s highly unlikely that this is credible. For this to be true, you would have to believe that, while Wohl was out looking for women to lie about Robert Mueller, an existing client of his just happened to come forward, saying that she had been raped by the former FBI director. And, what’s more, you’d have to believe that Robert Mueller had decided to head the Trump investigation, knowing full well that this was in his background, and could doom the entire enterprise. And I just don’t see how that’s possible. I know that men can do terrible, horrible things, and that’s true even of those I respect and admire. I just can’t see any scenario in which Robert Mueller, however, knowing what was on the line, would take the job as special counsel if he knew that there was something that could be used against him to scuttle the case. I just find that impossible to believe.

Wohl tweeted a photo of the Mueller accuser with her face obscured. He said that he’d met her at the airport and that she’d decided to fly off to an undisclosed destination rather than put her life in jeopardy at the press conference. Thanks to Google, though, we know that it was an old photo of Wohl and a friend who some are now saying is his girlfriend.

We will see, HW. Avenatti doesn’t seem scared at all. I think it’s more likely that Kavanaugh was a sloppy, stupid, drunk in high school and college, who doesn’t remember much of what happened around him and what he may have himself done at times. I think that was apparent in the way he behaved at the hearing and the way he avoided talking about such detail.

Even if Dr. Ford’s accusation is true, I don’t think Kavanaugh did anything that rare or horrific. She didn’t accuse him of rape. What she said he did is actually a very common occursnce among drinking teens and college students. To say it’s horribly slandering him is just overdramatizing.

I think his conduct at the hearings alone is enough to disqualify him from serving on the most important court in the nation.

I don’t believe Avenatti and his client. But it doesn’t matter what I believe. What matters is what evidence or eyewitness testimony is out there, if there is any.

I’m glad there is going to be an investigation. Now we should get a much better idea of who is lying, and hopefully there will be some consequences for the guilty.

If Avenatti and/or his client are lying, they should certainly pay a severe penalty for that, as it is truly a reprehensible and unforgivable thing to make such very serious accusations falsely. It would be an offense to the falsely accused, but also an offence to our system of justice and to the American people.

I think if Kavanaugh did what Dr. Ford said he did, it wasn’t nevessarily a genuine attempt to rape her. I think it is very likely that he, in his inebriated state, thought she would actually come around to liking it, and would respond with some cooperation and maybe even enthusiasm. That’s usually what stupid drunk guys think about their behavior toward women. They usually mistake the fantasies in their head for how the situation might likely progress. It’s their narcessism and underdeveloped consciences which is at the root of this behavior.

In high school and in college, I saw countless guys behave very much as Dr. Ford described. I still see all the signs in many of the obnoxious asshole frat boys on UM campus these days. It’s so common and so obvious, I don’t believe anybody who says they don’t see it.

  25. iRobert
    Posted November 3, 2018 at 8:01 pm | Permalink

If Dr. Ford’s memory is accurate, I’m still not convinvinced Kavanaugh would have escalated to actually raping her. It seems he scared his buddy enough that he might – enough that he felt the need to intervene. He knew it was going too far.

Again, I also think it’s possible that Ford is not remembering her experience as it actually happened. Her mind may have even interchanged the identities of the individuals involved in a sort of attempt to cope with her shock at what she experienced. Her experience may have been at a completely different time and place, and involved an entirely different group of people. The mind is a very complex thing, and the way it handles stress and trauma can be very messy and confusing.

The point of this thread however is that these idiots, Wohl and Burkman, are just disgusting human beings. I think that’s very clear. You may want to focus on what they imagine their point being, but that doesn’t deminish the disgusting nature of their actions and what it says about them personally. It says a lot.

It’s true I’m very arrogant, HW. But I’m confident I do not suffer from narcarcistic disorder of any sort. I’ve met a lot of people in my life and am pretty old, and I’ve always watched people’s behavior very intently, so it isn’t difficult for me to read most people and social situations. That certainly comes across as obnoxious and arrogant.

Kavanaugh’s behavior in the hearing was very telling. It said volumes about his personality, how it’s developed, and so much more. I don’t care what anyone would make of my statements about that. To me, he’s a stunted piece of shit. I have no respect for him. The fact that he broke down like a whiny little baby just confirmed for me he actually doesn’t have any business being a judge, at any level. I’ve met many like him, and he’s no mystery to me.

Their behavior is symptomatic of an irreparable sickness. Personalities such as theirs cannot be salvaged. They’re permanently damaged in a way that prohibits them from ever functioning as healthy, productive members of any society, or even in any interpersonal relationship of any sort. I wasn’t saying anything about how traumatic the experience was for her, Jean. I was saying the incident, as she described it, didn’t escalate to the level of attempted rape. I believe it may have, but it is also very likely that it wouldn’t have.

Jean: “What do you know about such experiences? “

Not that it’s any of your business, but a number of my closest friends have shared with me their stories of having been raped. I’m very familiar with the horror of it.

Jean: “Why would you question so many women when they say it is in fact horrific.”

I don’t question “so many women.” I was describing one particular incident, one particular individual described. Stop pretending to be the spokesperson for anyone but yourself, Jean. You have enough trouble with that.

Jean: “She was screaming and he covered her mouth.”

…which does not constitute attempted rape.

Jean: “Have you been in that situation while being physically attacked? If not, please don’t weigh in on how horrific it was or not.”

I’m going to have to disappoint you again and remind you I’ll weigh in on whatever I choose. I’ll use my own judgement about that. I’m certainly not going to defer to yours.

What Kavanaugh was described as doing was not at all rare in this sick culture of ours. However, whatever he would have done from that point where his pal intervened is unknown. What did happen was not horrific in the sense that it didn’t escalate. I’ll restate that as many times as seems necessary to convince you I’d never defer to your judgement on such matters of discussion. I’ve read your comments at length, and don’t at all feel you are a good spokesperson for anyone but yourself.

If this isn’t you, HW, you may want to team up with this guy. The two of you seem to be on the same wavelength.

iRibert— it constitutes sexual assault and attempted rape. Both very illegal. And horrific. I suggest I with your friends who confused in you about your statement and see how they feel about it. Because you did in fact project a reading onto Blasey Fords experience. I’ve dint the same— in the Ansari case, but this is different. And many many women expressed empathy with Ford. I’m not speaking only of my own perspective. But I’m also not speaking to impact without personal experience of assault.

Your comments here normalize a violent and illegal sexual attack. Spend a bit more time sitting with that. And then run it by your female friends. Please.

I don’t really try to argue with you, HW. I simply make statements and watch what you say in response. I consider argument a serious thing to be conducted only in serious environments.

I still don’t know what you think you’ve been so insightful about. What has given you the impression that you have some amazing ability to debate, or some extraordinary insight into anything?

I’m sorry I have to keep saying it, Jean, but I don’t consider your advise valuable whatsoever.

HW, I do agree you often post helpful links providing folks here some additional information that they would be wise to incorporate into their considerations. But it doesn’t often amount to a “I’m right, your wrong” sort of conclusion. The way you portray it as that is something I find a bit off.

You haven’t done it to me by the way. In fairness, I’m not one of the people who wants to fight with you constantly. I actually agree with you on a number of things, so I’m not often throwing stuff at you to refute.

“some additional information that they would be wise to incorporate into their considerations.”

If you want to call it that then go ahead. I call it smoking ’em. How does it not prove I am right and wobblie, jean, mark, etc. are wrong as shit? For example Wobblie just said they never stated anything under penalty of perjury. I posted a link that disproves that idea. It happens all the time. I think some of you think that more words equal a stronger case. Being correct doesn’t rate, let alone being efficient in argument.

HW, The “Declaration” you are so excited about, was what she gave to her attorney and was sent to the committee. That is the potential “act”, which would make her potentially guilt of conspiracy to obstruct Congress. The document is not attested, or notarized. It is nothing more than a letter. If you would bother to read the accompanying article, you would have known this, “Avenatti sent Swetnick’s declaration to the Judiciary Committee.”

    What about those indictments?

It says right in it it is under penalty of perjury.

Metabunk says some of which may be sealed indictments. I say many will be proven to be sealed indictments. Let’s see who is more correct. It’s kind of a half-ass position for them because if I am correct they can claim to be correct also. That would be hollow though, wouldn’t it?

HW, it is no different than me telling you, “I swear to God”. It is in fact Aveanti’s get out of jail free card. See I was not going to suborn perjury “She swore to me that she was telling the truth..see she says so right here.” No Government Agent of any type ever asked her a question in this regard. The worst is “conspiracy to commit perjury” on Swetnick’s part. This “declaration” would be the predicate act in furtherance of her conspiracy. Get it ? This Declaration is just an expression of what she would testify too to the Committee. Swetnick had competent legal counsel, unlike “Jane Doe”.

    what about those indictments?

What’s wrong with busting them on conspiracy to commit perjury? I don’t see your point. It would be a great day if that happened.

I just talked about the indictments, dork. The fact that the vast majority of them are still sealed ought to tell you it’s not an ordinary situation. If they are not connected then why aren’t they being handled on their own time?

    Ya baby,
Tired of being alone here by myself, now
I tell ya, I’m tired baby,
I’m tired of being all wrapped up late at night,
In my dreams, nobody but you, baby.
    Sometimes I wonder,
If you love me like you say you do,
You see baby, I, I, I, I’ve been thinking about you,
I’ve been wanting to get next to you, baby,
Sometimes I hold my arms and I say,
Oh baby, yeah, needing you has proven to me,
To be my greatest dream, yeah
    Awh!
