Trump, looking to squash stories of his mental instability, declares himself “a very stable genius”

Remember how, a few days ago, we were talking about Trump’s descent into madness? Well, I guess we were wrong. Our President issued a formal statement this morning announcing himself to be “a very stable genius.”

There is so much more that I’d like to say, but, as I have my hands full at the moment, I’m afraid we’ll have to leave it at that. I just wanted you to know that, at least for now, you don’t to worry about the fate of humanity. Our lives a not just in the hands of a “stable genius,” but “a very stable genius.”

When asked by reporters later this afternoon, why he felt it necessary to formally proclaim himself to be a very stable genius, Trump had the following to say.

No one asked him at the event, but his initial “very stable genius” tweet seems to have been triggered, as most of his tweets are, by a segment on Fox News. The segment ran at 7:10 AM. Trump’s tweet was posted at 7:20 AM. Furthermore, it should be noted that this happened as Trump and high ranking members of the GOP were gathered at Camp David, ostensibly to consider the future of their political party.

That’s not all. He then sent his racist advisor Stephen Miller on Jake Tapper’s show to say, “The reality is that the president is a political genius.”

If you’re interested, the Brookings Institute has a good explanation as to how we’d use Section IV of the 25th Amendment to remove a president who is politically unfit.

Also, Sarah Huckabee Sanders went on Fox and Friends yesterday and said that it isn’t Trump who is “mentally unfit”, but those Americans who aren’t “celebrating” him.

Some people still operate under the assumption that he is really capable, just so smart that he’s making us think he’s incapable, but then, instead of joyfully accepting that his very, very, very smart plan is working, he goes on Twitter rants against people who don’t bow down to his genius, and the other candidate in an election that happened more than a year ago.

By this time, with normal Presidents, most people have forgotten who ran.

Don’t forgot the loser candidate is an “early adopter” of the Trump Russia collusion narrative and the people in the FBI who covered up her crimes are some of the ones in the investigation. It is a coup attempt on a President who won fair and square.

Trump has been trolling all of you all this time. Why do you think he would say something like that right now? He does it to the media constantly and the idiots haven’t figured this out. That IG report is going to fuck your shit up among other things. That’s why he seems so confident these days. The old corrupt guard is going out and there will be serious consequences for many.

Do you people have any idea the country is in an official State of Emergency right now due to corruption and human rights abuse and has been since 12/21/17? Look up Trump’s EO signed on that day. It authorizes the Treasury to confiscate funds in the USA obtained through corruption and human rights abuse. Guess what former President pardoned one of the individuals specifically named in the EO?

“Don’t forgot the loser candidate is an “early adopter” of the Trump Russia collusion narrative” — because, like Trump, as a candidate she received intel briefings on Russia interference in the election before it was released publicly.

“the people in the FBI who covered up her crimes are some of the ones in the investigation.” — Hmmm, I wonder why the people in the FBI who EXONERATED HRC are being targeted by the right?

“It is a coup attempt on a President who won fair and square.”– I wouldn’t deny this, but it will be a legal coup, based on his own incompetence and/or malfeasance.

Apparently trying to take out opposition candidates is only ok if it’s conservatives targeting Dems in HW’s view.

This is what an intel shill sounds like: http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/07/politics/cia-mike-pompeo-donald-trump/index.html

Of course calling Pompeo a member of the intelligence community is a stretch.

Yep it seems that first conservatives and then the Hillary campaign likely paid for the fusion report on Trump. But the intel investigation into Russian interference started before that. And opposition research that does not originate from a foreign power is not in any way illegal or uncommon. What’s your point?

I have never been so invested in a politician to take grand pronouncements of self-ability seriously.

I always thought that was for the gullible and the weak who can’t live without leadership.

Like, I never took the “hope and change”pronouncements of 2008 at all seriously. It was silliness. I don’t even think that Obama took them seriously, though I think he vastly misunderstood how difficult it would be to get even modest reform passed.

Again, flash to 2016 when Bernard Sanders made all kinds of grand claims about what would happen and how easily people fell for them without question, which was a lot of why I didn’t vote for him.

Democracies thrive on being wholly skeptical of the abilities of leadership. Trump seems genuinely shocked that people are willing to call him out at every turn. Instead of changing gears or learning from it, he makes odd claims of being a “stable genius” whatever the fuck that is. Over Twitter. When he is supposed to be meeting with the leaders of his political party.

I don’t know what Pompeo’s deal is but he is correct that it’s ridiculous to say Trump is mentally unsound. You shill for the worst aspects of the CIA all the time. Do you have any idea of the crimes they have committed? That’s what Trump is rooting out and that is why they want to stop him. Like Schumer said if you cross the alphabet agencies they have six ways to Sunday to get back at you. Hillary and people at the FBI colluded to create this “insurance policy” against Trump. Brennan, Comey, a whole bunch of alphabet jerks are going to face justice for criminal behavior. That is going to be proven. It’s in the can I’ll bet you.

Steele used Russian contacts to piece together the dossier. Did he not? Now he has a criminal referral to the DOJ for lying to Congress about the “distribution of information” in the dossier. There are a lot of illegal things about this attempt to defraud the USA. You are going to have to eat everything you’ve said. I warned you already months ago. Now it’s getting closer.

It seems like two sides of the same coin. Sanders would not be able to deliver any better on his promises to the people than Trump has been able to deliver on the things that matter to folks, ie. universal health care, the role back of the US empire or at least the ends of our wars, creation of jobs and increasing family incomes, and addressing climate change.
The difference with Sanders would have been at least a partial triumph over the 1% and their domination of the public debate. The things I mentioned above would at least be getting debated.
Trump caved just as fast as Obama to the donor class. It is not about leaders, but what is allowed in the public domain for discussion. For example Obama made it clear that a single payer health system was not part of the political discussion, just as Trump has made it clear his political statements concerning ending the wars was simply nonsense.
The Democrats and Republicans together have ensured that we remain a war making economy. Until that reality is confronted we will continue to sink ever deeper into the morass. 1000 plus military bases, our “warriors” fighting in up to a dozen countries, and all we get is the Trump/Hillary show to distract us from the 1% strip mining everything of value in the country.

I don’t know who the Mr. Warlord is referring to, but I wonder what “your kind of people” refers to.

I didn’t ever think that Obama’s (or Bush, Clinton, or anyone elses) role as the head of state was to “drive people crazy.” I thought that his role was to govern.

The United States is a country made up of people, many of whom are just trying to get by, located within a world of other people with their own priorities. It’s not a reality show, though, given how cartoonish politics have become here, I think that some people have forgotten that.

The stable genius, according to Axios, doesn’t start work until 11:00 AM each day, as he needs more time for television and twitter. His staff members refer to this television and twitter time as Trump’s “executive time.”

    QUOTING AXIOS:
President Trump is starting his official day much later than he did in the early days of his presidency, often around 11am, and holding far fewer meetings, according to copies of his private schedule shown to Axios. This is largely to meet Trump’s demands for more “Executive Time,” which almost always means TV and Twitter time alone in the residence, officials tell us.
