Growing Rats on the Backs of Men

This following photo is the third most popular thing on Reddit right now. According to the person who posted it, it’s a grease stain on a paper bag that looks like a bear with a bird on its back.

I think we all know what it’s really a reference too.

Yes, the cosmos is telling us to go back into the MarkMaynard.com archive, back to the very beginning, when this was the header.

For what it’s worth, I used to call this drawing, “Growing Rats on the Backs of Men.” I don’t remember the significance, but, as I recall, I used to draw it quite a bit back at the turn of the century… Anyway, I’d forgotten all about it until I saw this grease-stained barbecue bag, and now I don’t feel as though I have any choice but to follow the trail backwards and see where it leads.

Apparently, I proposed this drawing for the cover of the Monkey Power Trio’s 2003 release.

An analogy for the Trump administration perhaps?
