“Before Obama came along, we didn’t have any successful radical Islamic terrorist attacks” inside the US, declares Trump supporter Rudy Giuliani

rudytrump

Not only is Obama “the founder of ISIS“, but, according to Rudy Giuliani, who was the Mayor of New York City when the 9/11 attacks took place in 2001, no terrorists had successfully struck the United States until Obama took office in 2008. Here’s the video.

Some are attributing the lapse to Giuliani’s advancing age. I happen to remember, however, that he said roughly the same thing back in 2010, when he announced on Good Morning America, “We had no domestic attacks under Bush.” So this isn’t something new. Giuliani is just reading out of the same far right playbook he’s been reading out of since Obama took office.

Bush, for those of you in the audience who are too young to remember, was our President when the 9/11 attacks took place, killing 3,000-some people in New York City. Bush was literally the guy who, as we’d come to find out later, was handed a classified CIA security briefing titled “Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US” on Monday, August 6, 2001, just 36 days before the deadly 9/11 attacks. According to the New York Times, Bush, who was vacationing on his ranch in Crawford, Texas at the time he was given the CIA briefing, failed to “react with urgency to the warnings.” And the rest, as they say, is history… Or is it?

History can be rewritten, right?

Bush kept America safe.

We weren’t attacked until Obama made us weak.

Hillary Clinton kills her friends.

Obama founded ISIS.

The list goes on.

Meanwhile, in the real world, it’s just been reported that Trump’s daughter Ivanka is vacationing with Putin’s girlfriend, raising new questions about the candidate’s ties to the Russian dictator.

In less than a decade, we went from “Obama wasn’t born in America” to “Obama is responsible for 9/11.” It’s really amazing what can be accomplished when you just repeat the same thing over and over again. With enough airtime, you can make the truth anything you want it to be.

One wonders what we, the American people, will believe in another few decades, as our public schools continue to be dismantled, and the influence of our pseudo-news networks like Fox grow. I’m sure it’ll work to the advantage of some, but I can’t imagine it’ll be a world worth living in for most of us.

Not only do they give Obama credit for the terrorism that happened under Bush, but they also maintain that the economy is worse now than it was then, despite the rising stock market and the shrinking national debt.

I made “Chened” in 2010; a slideshow made of illustrations showing Dick Cheney’s involvement in the 9/11 attacks. I have no facts to back this, but would say I disagree with Giuliani 110%.

Ah. The good ol’ playbook. If you repeat something completely false enough times, people will start to believe you. Unfortunately, it works. This guy either has dementia or is a huge turd for dishonoring the memories of those lost on 9/11.

The Daily News calls it “Rudy’s most pathetic politicizing of 9/11 yet,” which is saying a lot, given how much he’s politicized the tragedy over the years.

It’s text book negationism (historical revisionism).

    The definition from Wikpiedia:

Historical revisionism involves either the legitimate scholastic re-examination of existing knowledge about a historical event, or the illegitimate distortion of the historical record. For the former, i.e. the academic pursuit, see historical revisionism. This article deals solely with the latter, the distortion of history, which—if it constitutes the denial of historical crimes—is also sometimes called negationism.

In attempting to revise the past, illegitimate historical revisionism may use techniques inadmissible in proper historical discourse, such as presenting known forged documents as genuine; inventing ingenious but implausible reasons for distrusting genuine documents; attributing conclusions to books and sources that report the opposite; manipulating statistical series to support the given point of view; and deliberately mis-translating texts (in languages other than the revisionist’s).

Some countries, such as Germany, have criminalised the negationist revision of certain historical events, while others take a more cautious position for various reasons, such as protection of free speech; still others mandate negationist views.

Notable examples of negationism include Holocaust denial, Armenian Genocide denial and Japanese war crime denial.

In literature, the consequences of historical revisionism have been imaginatively depicted in some works of fiction, such as Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell. In modern times, negationism may spread via new media, such as the Internet.

He appears to just be reading words without a strong sense of the meaning behind the words. My guess is he is deeply fatigued, old and in the beginning phases of dementia. I guess we can go around saying “he is a lying asshole”, but I am not sure how that makes us look.

Hey, it is a strategy that works. Look at how many people, even on the left, who think Clinton is akin to Satan. That is 25 years of lies, folks, that people believe like it is the gospel truth. I suppose it is like the gospel truth in that, like the bible, facts don’t matter as much as faith.

Let’s just blame Giuliani for the 2 successful terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The first time in 1993, he was the federal prosecutor for NY, the second time in 2001 he was the mayor.

When so much of the electorate voting entirely on what they “believe”, evidence and fact unfortunately lose all meaning. And this is what you get folks. The mayor of New York City during the 9/11 attacks saying that there was no successful terrorist attack on American soil before Obama…with a straight face.

Well put, Lynne. I have little hope that the insane commitment, supported by delusion, to the bs game playing on both sides is a sustainable strategy long term–the next two or three hundred years–long term. I mean, otherwise smart people are proud to be in the trenches with the garbage, flinging crap distortions and misrepresentations back and forth. Hoo rah. Yay

Part of the problem, of course, is that we all get news from all over the place. That has good points and bad but it would be nice if we had more trusted bipartisan sources who can fact check things and perhaps a culture that values facts even if they go against our own beliefs.

Giuliani is back again. This time he’s making comparisons between Trump, who is an “economic genius,” and Clinton, who is just “a woman.”

    From ABC News:

Top Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani referred to the Republican nominee as “a man who has this kind of economic genius” in the same sentence as he called Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton simply “a woman.”

Speaking of reports that Donald Trump claimed a $916 million loss on his 1995 income taxes, Giuliani said: “Don’t you think a man who has this kind of economic genius is a lot better for the United States than a woman, and the only thing she’s ever produced is a lot of work for the FBI checking out her emails?”

The former New York City mayor said in the interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on “This Week” Sunday that Trump was “a genius” for taking advantage of tax laws allowing him to claim the loss.

“He’s a genius at how to take advantage of legal remedies that can help your company survive and grow. I want a man who’s a genius at figuring out how to take this country, that’s — moving in the wrong direction, where we’ve had a basically jobless recovery, where we’ve had growth of less than 2 percent for two years,” he said.
