Help us welcome Austin’s Dead Music Capital Band to Ypsilanti this Sunday

This Sunday afternoon, if you’re in the vicinity of Ypsilanti, drop by Riverside Park at about 3:30. That’s when, according to what I’ve heard, members of Austin’s premier un-dead brass band, the Dead Music Capital Band, fresh from their performance at the Crash Detroit street band festival, will be dropping by to serenade us with their “swingin’ sound from six feet down”.

Here, to give you a taste of what to expect, is the Dead Music Capital Band playing their song Ax Grinder live in the office of Austin’s award winning Wheatsville Co-op. [My friend Dan Gillotte, when he’s not performing in the Dead Music Capital Band, is the manager of Wheatsville.]

For more information, check out the Facebook event listing… Oh, and, if you feel like it, bring some food to share. I’m thinking that his could evolve into a nice, little neighborhood picnic. Regardless of whether or not you want to share your food, though, it should be an awesome time. And it’s absolutely free.

One more thing… Even though they’re dressed like zombies, I’m told that the Dead Music Capital Band is completely family friendly, so, if you’re the kind of person who worries about such things, you really don’t have to.

Police can pull these people over if they like. It is no problem as long as they are respectful to the robot.

Do we have to send one of our local acts to Austin as part of this cultural exchange? If so, who should we send?

Austin is rich because Ypsi is poor. Capitalism at work.

They apparently arrived in Michigan safely last night. Here they are sleeping during Crash Detroit. If all goes according to plan, they’ll be in Ypsi tomorrow at 3:30.
