Burying Freeda’s ashes

It’s been a few weeks now since Freeda, our 14 year old pit-lab mix, died, and the kids and I decided yesterday morning that the time had come to dig a hole in the back yard near where she liked to lay, build a little wooden box for her ashes, and give her a proper send-off. While it was sad, it was also kind of beautiful.

When I was a teenager, I had a dog that went nearly everywhere with me and was basically my best friend. Over thirty years later, I still miss him, and think about him often.

I’m really sorry about your loss, and hope your graveside service helps bring you and your family closure, and over time, will generate good memories for many years to come.

It is a unique pain. I still miss my best friend doggie, almost three years after he died. In fact, the other day I found the little baggie of his fur that I had saved and that sent me into a two hour decline. Hold onto the memories of your special friend. xxoo

She was a well-loved dog for sure. RIP in the yard that was your playground! xoxoxo

Keith Richards says he snorted a line of his dad. Now that’s real love.

According to the previous post, you have access to a lot of wood. Maybe you should have the kids start churning out animal coffins. There might be money in it.
