“Hillary, I have important information from the future…”

I got a text this afternoon from someone in Flint who was going to be working at tonight’s Democratic debate. When he told me that both Clinton and Sanders would be passing right by him on their way to the stage, I suggested that he take the opportunity to whisper the following to Clinton. I’ve yet to hear whether or not he took my advice.

Did you not watch tonight’s debate? Clinton walked out on stage looking completely shellshocked. When asked for her opening statement, there was only silence. After at least ten seconds, she said, “I am no longer a candidate for President of the United States.” She then turned and left the stage.

Guess they’re still able to throw some punches her way, even with the ownership change.

Kicked his ass, Jean? I saw her interrupt him several times, and talk over him. Does that make her the winner in your eyes?

You’re clearly having a hard time shaking 11/22/63.

No, the interrupting sucked. I guess she was prompted to do that by some damn strategist. The pundits today were saying it made her appear ‘impassioned.’ stupid. She beat him on facts, not personality. She has not called him out on inconsistencies and just plain hogwash in the past and she let a lot slide in this one too, but defended her record and her husband’s well, talked about actual outcomes of policies in terms of economic impact, kept it positive not paranoid on the economy and the electoral system, nailed him on his protectionist stance on gun manufacturing, etc etc. She won that debate. He sounded like a broken record. Everything was Wall Street. Detroit’s current situation was blamed on NAFTA… again! After he took heat for that anti-historical, racism denying bullshit the day before. He could have spun it as corporate malfeasance even, but Detroit is not in ruins because of NAFTA. Duh. I remember watching Reagan in debates and thinking he was full of shit and then everybody loved him, so my opinion is mine… and a lot of the media. (I know, they’re biased, right ? The persecution complex of the Sanders crowd re realities of the democratic process…oy! So if you like the sound of Sanders broken record, I’ll bet he sounded great, but he made no new points and no headway. I find him more disturbing everytime I see him. Oh yeah and his attempt to explain the experience of racism was some shit about white people not knowing what it’s like to live in a ghetto.Yeah, he lost. Oh And the promise to reduce mass incarceration to European levels (cut by 80%) by the end of his first term– despite the fact that the vast vast majority (like 600x) of prisoners are in state prisons and not under federal control at all. So how does he do that in 4 years? It’s the principle right? Or is your honest, authentic guy lying, but you like the lie.

I know he has teflon for you all. If you dont like Hillary, you see rudeness and lying and corruption. you believe every attack ever made on her over 25 years by the right and the left– none of which have stuck. So she has what– legal teflon? How do you get that? Maybe by not actually being corrupt.

I’m no better than you. I have developed a dislike for Sanders that grows similarly (no thanks to his supporters) every time I hear him speak. What you find inspiring looks like hucksterism to me. What I see is a version of the old A2 hippies ranting BS to me when I was a diner waitress. They were always smart and always certain and they always spouted conspiracies and basically made the same point over and over. One thing would fix everything. Like a key in a lock. That’s what I see. It’s a nice fantasy but this guy is running for president. In my party. I dont see him as honest in anyway– because he’s selling vulnerable people a bill of goods. He’s been in the Senate and should know he cant deliver, unless he just really truly never listens to anyone else ever.

It’s weird to see a candidate so proud of the fact that he has almost no support from his peers of 20 years– Because he’s ‘not part of the establishment.’ Establishment means, what? people who have been working on stuff v opposing stuff for the past 20 years. Oh yeah, never mind, Cruz says the same thing.

No is easy. Fantasy is easy. Change is hard. I’m glad he bought the ideas and concerns of the left to the table. Very glad. But he’s the wrong guy to deliver of the promise of the progressive movement in America. Too bad. Yeah, he lost, And he wont win the nomination. And you guys should really ask why then instead of externalizing blame on dark money or media conglomerates, because that turned out to really not a big factor in this primary after all. Is it? Bernie’s own campaign success disproves his premise.

While I am a Bernie supporter in the primary, find Jean’s impassioned post about Hillary to be a good one. I like Bernie in the primary and intend to vote my heart and conscience, however I know full well tha Hillz is our likely candidate. There are many things I really don’t like about Hillary, including shifting positions and an aura of repeated untrustworthiness, but I will fully support her if she wins the nomination.
