Like something straight out of North Korea, the USA Freedom Kids serenade Donald Trump with a song about his incredible courage, strength and wisdom

freedomkidz

I had an incredible post planned for last night, which I know you would have loved. But, two hours into writing it, I curled up next to my toasty warm laptop and fell asleep. So, here’s what I’ve got for you instead… the USA Freedom Kids lip syncing their jingoriffic knock-off of the 1917 hit Over There for the manifestation of white, male anger that is Donald “I’ll Make America Great Again” Trump. Hopefully you’re able to keep your fully-engorged freedom boners in check.

Here, for those of you who lack the ability to hear the truth, are just a few of the brilliant lyrics (which there’s no way in hell these poor children wrote).

Cowardice

Are you serious?

Apologies for freedom, I can’t handle this.

When freedom rings, answer the call!

On your feet, stand up tall!

Freedom’s on our shoulders, USA!

Enemies of freedom face the music, c’mon boys, take them down

President Donald Trump knows how to make America great

Deal from strength or get crushed every time

You can’t see Trump in this footage, but my guess is that all of this talk of his courage made him sad, as he never had an opportunity to answer freedom’s call as a young man and fight for our country. I’m sure he would have loved to have fought in Vietnam, and demonstrated to the likes of that cowardly prisoner-of-war John McCain what real heroism looks like, but, as he suffered from painful bone spurs in his feet, he had to stay here at home and watch as others fought back the godless communists.

As for the all-out patriotic assault above, it apparently took place yesterday in Pensacola, Florida, not far from the home of entrepreneur Jeff Popick, the man responsible for the USA Freedom Kids. [That’s his daughter, Alexis, in the center. Performing with her are Bianca and Izzy.] Popick, who told New York Magazine that the girls in the group are “well on their way to being scholars of the Constitution,” has been a fan of Trump’s for some time. “I’ve studied Donald Trump personally, and I’ve read every book he’s written,” he said, “and I think he’s a genius on many fronts.”

update: As my friend Dan from Austin points out, this is not completely without precedent.

This is probably the most beautiful, most genuinely courageous thing I have ever seen in my life. These girls are so brave to have done this knowing full well that Obama would snatch them up, put them in reeducation camps, and burn down their family homes. But they did it anyway. More people need to follow their example. It’s time to wake up, put on the red white and blue, and start lip snycing, America.

They should have ended the number by swinging automatic weapons over the shoulders and spraying bullets over the heads of the audience. Otherwise, this was perfect.

They should use these little girls to lead Muslims out of Trump rallies in the future. The optics would be better.

Somebody once said: ” “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” … but I never thought I’d actually live long to see it happen.

    fascism
    noun fas·cism \ˈfa-ˌshi-zəm also ˈfa-ˌsi-\
    Simple Definition of fascism
: a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government
: very harsh control or authority

Demetrius– Trump is an asshole and a bigot and a megolomaniac, not a fascist. It’s a word we should use more carefully, unless the left wants to sound like the far right talking about Obama.

I didn’t mean that Trump, or his supporters, are *literally* fascists (in the dictionary sense you describe above) … but it is hard not to recognize the arrogant, bombastic, jingoistic contours of this movement as at least leaning in that direction.

I realize we are still a long way from having brown-shirts marching down Main Street … but I still find their hateful “us vs. them” ideology and raw threats of using the military to “take out” those around the world who “hate us for our freedom” – especially wrapped in the red-white-and-blue ornaments of patriotism, and being espoused by a major-party front-runner – to be extremely troubling.

I think too many liberal elites and media types are treating the whole Trump movement as a kind of funny joke … instead of as a dangerous, destabilizing threat.

Remember the school group who wrote a song praising Obama? That was also troubling. Kids shouldn’t be political pawns.

And now the Freedom Kids are going to sue Donald Trump!

But now Popick is saying that the Trump campaign jerked him and his gaggle of singing girls around, making verbal promises that it didn’t follow through on. First, he claims, the campaign promised them a table where they’d be able to pre-sell their albums following their now-infamous performance in Pensacola, in lieu of actual compensation. That didn’t happen. Following that, the campaign reportedly called Popick last minute to give a performance in Des Moines, only to cancel after the girls landed, leaving Popick to cover all the costs of travel.

“This is not a billion-dollar lawsuit,” Popick told the Post. “I’m not looking to do battle with the Trump campaign, but I have to show my girls that this is the right thing.”

The manager and dad of one of the Freedom Kids believes he has a case. He’s consulted with an attorney and plans to file a suit in the next couple of weeks, claiming he’s owed a makeup performance for the canceled date in Des Moines or some form of compensation.

The girl group made headlines earlier this year for its performance of the original song “Freedom’s Call,” which Popick wrote. The song includes the line “President Donald Trump knows how to make America great.” Reportedly USA Freedom Kids are no longer planning on releasing that song on the upcoming album, which goes on sale (sans hit) in September.

Remember back in January when this video first came out, how we all rolled our eyes and had a hearty laugh over what seemed then to be such ridiculously over-the-top, cartoon-style nationalism … and how we were all so self-assured that any candidate who featured such a performance at a campaign rally could certainly never be taken seriously – let alone win a major party nomination, or the presidency?

    Flash forward to today …

Try to remember that discrepancy the next time somebody says “Oh, don’t worry … the Trump Administration won’t be *that* bad …” or “Don’t worry, eventually cooler heads will prevail … ” or “Don’t worry, we have checks and balances, such as the the courts, and Congress … “
