Totally Quotable Arlo: in utero looking out edition

tummy2

The kids and I were hiking around the woods this morning when Arlo announced to Clementine and me that he knew about things that we’d done as a family before he was born. When asked how he could possibly know what we’d been doing before his birth, he responded, “When I was a baby, I had a secret way to peek out of mama’s tummy.” Asked how the system worked, he would only say, “I had a controller.”

Do you think it was watching Star Wars?? Quite the imagination, that one!

Do fetuses peek out of their mother’s tummies in Star Wars?

Yes, it was in the cantina scene, right before Han Solo shoots Greedo. If you look closely, you can see a little face emerge from the bounty hunter’s tummy, like a joey emerging from a kangaroo’s pouch, right before Han Solo pulls the trigger.

No wonder my son is so disgusted by me. He has been watching all the stuff I’ve done before he was born.

I remember having a very vivid memory of my sister (who was born two years prior to me) and I climbing up into my mom’s head and looking out of her eyes. Kid’s are so full of it.

Arlo also told us a few days ago that he’d named his stuffed dog Destroy All Monsters.

A friend of mine recently reported that her young’un recently told her that he lived with the angels until he picked his mommy and daddy. That one seems a little “religion-y” for me but I kind of like it anyway.
