A month or so ago, I presented this site’s first annual “Ypsilantian of the Year” award to Bee Roll and gave her this trophy with the promise that I would eventually make a new nameplate for it, to cover up where I’d just scrawled “Bee Roll” in sharpie. Well, I now have a few dollars, and I’d like to make good on that promise, but I’m not sure what to actually say about Bee and why I decided to give her this prestigious award. I mean, I know why she won the award, but it’s difficult to distill everything down to just a few words, and there’s not really a lot of space to work with.
Given that we repurposed an old basketball trophy for the award, I’m thinking that we might want to go with something sports-related, but I’m struggling with what it should be… “Ypsilantian of the Year 2014, awarded to Bee Roll, badass baller“?
Or should we steer clear of basketball terminology altogether, and go with something like… “Ypsilantian of the Year 2014, awarded to Bee Roll, an awesomely honest, inspiringly gutsy woman we can all be proud of”?
Well, if you have any ideas, let me know. I’ve given myself until the end of the week to figure this out.
Speaking of Bee, you know that her restaurant, Beezy’s, is open on Friday and Saturday nights now, right? Well, for the rest of the month, Bee is going to be offering two-for-one specials on all breakfast items and sandwiches bought between 4:00 and 8:00 PM on both Fridays and Saturdays. I don’t think I need to tell you how awesome this is, but it really is awesome… Here’s the official coupon. Feel free to share it widely.

That day (Jan. 1, 2015) I vowed to myself that I would never “leave a reply” on MarkMaynard.com ever again. But, fuck it, I love BEE ROLL! ox’s motherfuckers, x’s and o’s.
Interesting.
Am I a toadie or sycophant, do you think?
You know, it would save me a lot on engraving if the name plate just said: “Bee Roll: sycophant.”
Ypsycophantian of the Year!
I had a bunch of funny (to me) ideas, but I like yours: “Ypsilantian of the Year 2014, awarded to Bee Roll, an awesomely honest, inspiringly gutsy woman we can all be proud of.” That’s killer. It says it all. Also, she’ll cry.
DOOOO EEEETTT.
