I’m not sure what I was expecting when I heard that the Eastern Michigan University office of Campus Life had produced a video about the Ypsi Food Co-op, but I was pleasantly surprised when, after thinking about it for a few days, I finally sat down and watched what they’d come up with… Here it is.
One hopes they keep the series going, as it has tons of potential.

Another interesting topic might be community gardens. Granted, a lot of students aren’t around during the growing season, but I think that students would be interested to know that there’s a vital local food movement in Ypsi.
I’d also suggest a video of influential cartoonist and animator Winsor McCay, who got his start here in Ypsi. I think the images would be awesome.
VG Kids might make a nice subject, as it’s a successful arts related business that hires EMU students and grads.
Interesting.
Not to denigrate VG at all (and I mean, not at all), but doesn’t it seem kind of depressing to hear that EMU grads should be excited to have a career in entry level factory work?
I’m sure there are many talented people who didn’t have the luxury of having gone to a 4 year college that really could use a job there.
I think young students want to live in a town with a vibrant arts scene, and VG was the first place that wasn’t a bar to come to mind. They may be light industrial, but the work I’ve seen from them has always been good, and I think that EMU students would like to know that some of their favorite bands have things made and designed in Ypsilanti.
I would also recommend that they do one about First Fridays.
Again, I’m not calling VG out. I think they are a fine company which does good work.
