I just received word from Ian “MC Trashpedal” Fulcher that the line-up for the The Final Shadow Art Fair has been locked in… Here’s what Ian has in store for those of you who find yourselves trapped outside, in the beer garden, on July 20. (The descriptive phrases are Ian’s… so don’t ask me what they mean.)

2:30 Actual Birds (the perpetually resurrected pseudonym of Dustin Krcatovich)

4:00 HISS (SAF house band and veritable who’s who of Ypsi musician types)
4:30 Dave Richards (pop artisan for whatever two worlds you’re between)
5:00 Klayton Dawson (READ: The Future of All Music burns in his young mind)
5:30 Casual Sweetheart (the name says it all)
6:00 Sleep Slang (new Stef Chura project)
6:30 Annie Palmer (isn’t it time you fostered a crush on her?)
7:00 Van Houten (unstoppable, truly unstoppable rock women)
7:30 Rebel Kind (Shelley Salant and friends)

And, at 9:30, once the music is done, Patrick Elkins will be performing one of his inspired shadow puppet shows.
A super huge thank you all the performers, to the visionary Ian Fulcher, who curated the whole thing, to Raphael Brim and Charles Trees, who will be DJing between sets, and to Dave Richards, who will be handling the sound. None of this could have happened without them. (Brim will be DJing from 2-5, and Trees will by DJing from 5-8.)
[Going through the list, I realized that at least four of those folks performing are people that I’ve conducted exit interviews with over the past year… two are on their way out, and two have already left, but will be coming back to perform. Given the fact that this will be the final Shadow Art Fair, I think that’s worth noting. It kind of reinforces the fact that things are always in flux. It’s sad, I know, but it’s also kind of beautiful.]

It all sounds great, but what I’d really to see is “a troupe of actors, dressed as mice, fed a massive cat its own waste”.

Actually, they got the date wrong at the Current I guess as well–
The secret when dealing with the Current is to buy ad space from them. If you do, they get the dates and times of your events right. If not, these “mistakes” are known to happen. It’s a great business model.
It would have been great to have the final performance be several men in dark suits entering the building, confiscating the remaining art pieces and ordering everyone to leave single file while they took photos of each visitor and examined their drivers licenses…
…the way the Justice Department would have if Mark hadn’t agreed to shut the thing down.
