Kerry Bentivolio is “mentally unbalanced… conniving and dishonest,” confirms brother

I suspect that most of you in Michigan’s 11th district, if you read this site, have already made up your mind not to support Kerry Bentivolio, and support, instead, our friend Dr. Syed Taj for Congress. In case there’s one of you out there who is still on the fence, though, I wanted to share this clip from Politico.

The brother of Kerry Bentivolio says the Michigan congressional candidate, who’s favored to win on Tuesday, is “mentally unbalanced” and could end up in jail.

“I’ve never met anyone in my life who is conniving and dishonest as this guy,” Phillip Bentivolio said, according to the Michigan Information and Research Service. “He’s my brother so it’s hard to talk about this, but I believe that if he gets elected, he’ll eventually serve time in prison.”

Kerry Bentivolio is the Republican candidate in Michigan’s 11th district, running to replace Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, who failed to secure enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot.

Kerry Bentivolio is a Santa Claus impersonator and reindeer farmer. He made headlines after old court documents surfaced quoting him saying he had a “problem figuring out which one I really am, Santa Claus or Kerry Bentivolio.” He’s running against Democrat Syad Taj…

In fairness, Kerry Bentivoli has said that it’s not him, but his brother, who has “serious mental issues.” Regardless of who you believe, it appears as though the FBI is presently looking into a dispute between the two men, which dates back to 1992, when, according to Philip Bentivolio, his brother neglected to pay him $20,000 that was owed him for construction work that he’d done in Arkansas. It would seem that, using the upcoming election as leverage, Phillip had asked his brother for payment, threatening to go to the press if said payment wasn’t made. And, it would seem, that’s exactly what happened.

As for Politico’s comment about Bentivolio being “favored to win on Tuesday,” things, admittedly, aren’t looking great for Taj, a practicing Muslim, who is presently being hit by a barrage of racist, fear-mongering ads funded by the same wealthy conservative responsible for the despicable swiftboating of John Kerry in 2004. According to a recent poll conducted by Foster McCollum on behalf of Fox 2 News Detroit, Bentivolio is in the lead by 8%. Only 392 likely voters were polled in the telephone survey, and representatives from Foster McCollum say there’s a±3.79 margin of error, but it would seem there’s still a hell of a lot of work to do in this final week.

If you’d like to help Dr. Taj, you can contribute toward the fund that I started a few days ago here. We’ve already raised $285, and it would be great if we could just get a little bit more. Or, if you don’t have money to give, and still want to help, you can reach out to Dr. Taj’s campaign office and find out about volunteer opportunities… And, if you don’t know about the race, please follow the first two links in this post and find out about both of these men. And be sure to tell your friends and family members in Canton, Wayne, Wixom, Novi, South Lyon, Troy, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Rochester Hills, Clawson, and the rest of the district to do the same. This is an enormously important race, and we need to do everything we can to educate people as to the characters of these two men during this, the final week before the election. The last thing Michigan needs right now is an extremist Tea Party congressman who makes Michele Bachmann look sane.

[note: Sadly, I’m told that the above photo of a shirtless Bentivolio kissing a severed reindeer head is real. It apparently came from his own website.]

I’d never looked at a map of the 11th district before. It’s insane.

I think it speaks to just how nuts the Republican party is. When you have to resort to such extreme gerrymandering just to keep one seat, it tells me that your party is just barely holding on by its fingertips.

I was just about to post this quote on here.

Hilarious. How could anyone vote for this guy?

If you believe the polls about 50 percent of people are exactly that stupid.

Bentivolio is a pretty good representation of many Tea Party folks.

Look at that district map anonymous posted. Imagine the damage this guy is going to do to Republican candidates further down the ballot in that crutial areas for the GOP. This guy may single-handidly cost the GOP control of the state house in two years.

Once Bentiviolo’s in, maybe we should start a campaign to get him featured on Stephen Colbert’s Better Know a District. I think a Colbert interview may be just the exposure he needs. There is a link there for submitting requests for a particular representative.
