25 Suaves emerge from retirement to play the MarkMaynard.com 10th anniversary party

The negotiations are complete. 25 Suaves… who now wish to be referred to simply as 25… will be coming out of retirement to play the MarkMaynard.com 10th anniversary party on Saturday, September 8. When, earlier this evening, I asked Mr. Velocity Hopkins if he and DJ Party Girl would be in any condition to perform after over a half a dozen years in exile, he responded by sending the photo to the right. Rehearsal, it would seem, has had already begun.

While there will be other big announcements in the days to come, as of right now, there are only two bands on the bill that I am at liberty to talk about: 25 and Minus9… I’m tempted to bill them together as “16”, but I don’t think that anyone would get it.

Instead of 16, you could bill them together as 4-squared, just to make it a little more obscure. Or you could call them The Age of Bieber. (He’s about 16, right?) I like that better.

I really want to start a metal band called “times five eighths” and get on this incredible bill so that (ignoring the order of operations) it equals out to 10 years of mm.com!

I read yesterday, in the coverage of the recent mass shooting the Sikh temple, that the number 14 is big in the white power movement. Perhaps we could add a band called “take two more away” and attract some of those folks.

In particular, a tattoo on Page’s left shoulder suggests he was a committed devotee of white-power ideology. The tattoo consists of a large “14” in Gothic lettering superimposed on a black cross in a circle. The cross, known elsewhere as “Odin’s Cross,” is “one of the most popular symbols for neo-Nazis and white supremacists,” according to the Anti-Defamation League. It’s also used as a logo by Stormfront.org, one of the world’s most-visited racist web forums.

The “14” itself is particularly telling: It’s a reference to “the 14 words,” a racist credo first set down by David Lane, the cofounder of a white nationalist terror group known as The Order. (The Order—whose name was inspired by a similar group immortalized in William Luther Pierce’s racist novel, The Turner Diaries, a favorite of Timothy McVeigh’s—has been active for nearly 30 years and was implicated in the 1984 murder of Alan Berg, a liberal Jewish radio host.)

As formulated by Lane, the 14 words are reportedly inspired by a longer passage from Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf and form the basis for Lane’s “88 Precepts” (PDF), in which he lays out The Order’s founding philosophy—including its condemnation of homosexuality, abortion, and “mixing and destruction of the founding race.” (88, too, has special significance for neo-Nazis and other white hate groups.)

In their entirety, the 14 words—commemorated on Page’s skin—read: “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.”

MarkMaynard.com’s birthday party made Metromode’s list of ten things to do before in Metro Detroit before the end of the summer.
