Panty-centric family photos

In digging through the MM.com archives the other night, looking for things to mention on the site’s new “About” page, I happened across this old newspaper article, which contains what’s probably still my favorite family photo ever. It was taken by an Ann Arbor News photographer in 2006 to illustrate a story about our fledgling panty business. The story, probably because of the adorable image, and the fact that the word “panty” appeared prominently in the headline, ended up being reprinted in papers across the world… I guess it was a slow news week… Anyway, seeing it again made me happy, and I thought that I’d share that joy with you… It’s probably also worth noting that the Ann Arbor News went belly-up shortly after deciding to run this story.

An interesting side note on the photo… It was taken by a great Ann Arbor photographer by the name of Leisa Thompson. Linette and I didn’t know her at the time, but we’ve since, through completely unrelated circumstances, become friends. It’s weird how stuff like that works out.

As for the new “About” page, I’m sorry if it makes me sound like an arrogant little prick. I just wanted to finally put everything about all of my various projects together, in one place. It’s been pointed out to me, however, that, when you take it in all at once, I kind of look like a self-important, name-dropping prick… Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I’m not… At least, that’s what my important, famous friends tell me. [note to self: Maybe I should add a video footnote to the bottom of the “About” page, of me explaining that, in spite of all of my tremendous successes, I’m really just the same as everyone else. Or, better yet, I could quote Barbra Streisand, and thank all of the “little people.”]

And, speaking of Ypsipanties, we’re thinking of maybe bringing them back for a limited run. It dawned on me the other day that there are probably a lot of women running around in old, ragged pairs right now, and I figured that, as a community service, we should probably bring them back before these folks are pantyless altogether. If you’re interested in getting a pair, or know of someone who is housebound due to threadbare Ypsipanties, let me know.

I think you should at least put the content of the old “about” page at the top of the new one, or provide some sort of home for it. I always went back and read it again when I needed a reminder.

My Ypsipanties now consist of approximately 7 faded threads.

Andy, I didn’t even know the old page had an “about” page. What did it say? Do you remember? Or do I have to hotwire the Wayback Machine?

And the new Ypsipanties, Mre. Erf, will last an eternity. They’re going to be woven with teflon thread, sprinkled with carbon nanotubes, shellacked, and then laminated.

As I recall, the about was something to the effect of “morons hate it when you call them morons” or some such. It seemed really appropriate.

These are not the Maynard family pang photos I was looking for.
