According to reports, Michele Bachman signed a pledge today saying that she’d support legislation making sexually explicit materials illegal. Call it a hunch, but my sense is that you’ll see her poll numbers start falling tomorrow as a result… The following comes from Think Progress:
Bachmann became the first presidential candidate to sign a pledge created by The Family Leader, an influential social-conservative group in Iowa. By signing the pledge Bachmann “vows” to “uphold the institution of marriage as only between one man and one woman” by committing herself to 14 specifics steps. The ninth step calls for the banning of “all forms” of pornography. The pledge also states that homosexuality is both a choice and a health risk…
Which, if you think about it, is kind of ironic, given that a good number of Republicans are supporting her in hopes that her candidacy will yield a porn parody.
Anyway, if this is true, I think we’re about to find out once and for all that the only thing Republicans love more than their money is their porn.
[The pdf of the actual pledge can be found here.]
update: Some are claiming that the pledge doesn’t say “all” pornography, so maybe there’s some wiggle room for Bachmann.

Republicans are willing to put up with her crazy bullshit up to a point. I think we may have found that point.
I have a theory about men. They love porn.
The Party of Freedom!
Personally, I just think she’s trying to be Reagan. This kind of thing definitely worked for him. He generated a lot of support by attempting to legislate sexuality, at least in Mississippi.
Who remembers Ed Meese and the Meese Commission? Their report on hardcore porn, as others have noted, was a great resource for finding out about magazines and movies. It’s where I learned about the magazine Big Tit Ass Dildo Bondage.
I’m female and I like porn.
You’d better hide your box.

The facts back you up.

The pledge calls for:
“Humane protection of women and the innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy — our next generation of American children — from human trafficking, sexual slavery, seduction into promiscuity, and all forms of pornography and prostitution, infanticide, abortion and other types of coercion or stolen innocence.”
The porn section then basically calls for protecting women from seduction/coercion into the above. So no, it doesn’t technically call for a ban on porn; just protecting women from being coerced into it.
On the plus side, it says nothing about men, so gay porn should remain plentiful.
I deplore election years, if, for the simple fact that it’s “Family,” “God,” and “”Christian Values” 24 hours a fucking day.
There are many of us Americans who aren’t Christian, don’t believe in God and could give a rat’s ass about family.
She can take my porn when she pries it from my sticky, dead hands!
Yeah I first read that as “humane trafficking of women” and I was all, “What the fuck?!?!” I’m all for protecting women, btw, but not the way those folks want to….
Crazy Woman as always. Literal Nutjob.
She actually probably wouldn’t look to bad in a porn movie though. Heh.
Watching Laughing.
We now know where the Democratic Party, better known as the Party of Food Stamps places their values of family and decency and that is in the gutter.! However, this is typical to say the least. Ya’ all can now go watch all of your porn movies in your mothers basements.
WOW, Tater was on topic!
According to the British press, Bachmann also signed a document saying that African American families were more stable under slavery than they are today, under the Obama administration.

To Romney’s credit, it’s being reported that he came out against this pledge that Bachmann signed calling it “undignified and inappropriate”. He also believes in the science supporting the claim of global climate change. It’ll be interesting to see how well that goes over.

I’d send it to her, but I don’t think her husband would like it.
