While we’re all online, waiting for Michele Bachmann’s bat-shit insane response to our President’s brilliant state-of-the-union address, here’s a little something to whet your appetite for crazy. This is self-proclaimed prophet Cindy Jacobs of Generals International explaining how the recent mass bird deaths we’ve seen around the world are the result of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell being repealed. (Jacobs, I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear, is from Texas.)
Oh, and speaking of Bachmann, did you happen to hear her quote yesterday about how our founding fathers were determined to eliminate slavery, apparently oblivious to the fact that many owned slaves?

This was my favorite part of Obama’s speech.
“Obama says 80 percent of electricity should come from clean energy sources by 2035”
CNN is taking some heat for giving Bachmann a platform.

A little-known fact is that American worker productivity has been rising steadily for years — and is already among the highest in the world. Unfortunately, nearly all of the extra “wealth” that has been gained in the process has been concentrated among the top 1-2% … while real net income and net wealth for the bottom 98% has remained level or even fallen slightly.
So, when Obama says that Americans need to be better educated and work harder in order to compete with workers and businesses in other nations … what I REALLY hear him saying is that “we” should all continue to work harder and be more productive in order to make the already super-rich even richer, while our wages are stagnant (at best), health-care costs continue to skyrocket, our home equity continues to plummet, etc. …
In Obama’s SOTU, I heard a lot about “business,” “jobs” “trade,” “education,” “competition,” etc. … but virtually nothing about workers, unions, the poor, income inequality, sustainable agriculture, global warming, or rebuilding our cities and crumbling infrastructure … In short, it was a very pleasant speech, but not unlike one that might have been given by a moderate Republican only a few years ago.
While I think Obama is very smart and a genuinely decent man, I think he is naive, and therefore far too easily swayed by what the many “very serious, grown up people” he has surrounded himself with have to say.
In the process, I think he is (and we are) are being sold out in an epic and historic way.

This would explain also why God blesses countries like Uganda, where homosexuality is punishable by death, with such bounty and riches.
That particular bill, which merely proposes to imprison offenders for life, has not been enacted.
Your point, however, is valid, and was the subject of a dinner time discussion I had with a friend in Malawi. If God exists, then why does he punish his most faithful of followers (most of Africa) yet rewards a country which does not accept the Abrahamic God at all (Japan)?
My Malawian colleagues had no answer to this question, but were still fascinated that they were eating with a person who believes neither in God nor spirits.

“We will move forward together, or not at all – for the challenges we face are bigger than party, and bigger than politics,” he said in his State of the Union address.
The official Republican response, too, aimed high.
“Americans are skeptical of both political parties, and that skepticism is justified – especially when it comes to spending,” said Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. “So hold all of us accountable.”
And then there was Michele Bachmann.
As the leader of the Tea Party Caucus in the House, the Minnesota Republican gave her own, unauthorized response to the State of the Union, live from the National Press Club, filmed by Fox News, broadcast live on CNN and telecast by the Tea Party Express. It had all the altitude of a punch to the gut.
“After the $700 billion bailout, the trillion-dollar stimulus, and the massive budget bill with over 9,000 earmarks, many of you implored Washington to please stop spending money we don’t have,” Bachmann said. “But, instead of cutting, we saw an unprecedented explosion of government spending and debt, unlike anything we have seen in the history of our country.”
Armed with charts and photographs, but not a word of fellowship, she railed against “a bureaucracy that tells us which light bulbs to buy, and which may put 16,500 IRS agents in charge of policing President Obama’s health care bill.”
The State of the Nation was conciliatory Tuesday night, as each side made gestures to the other, and lawmakers for the first time crossed the aisle to sit – and applaud – together. But Bachmann and her fellow Tea Partyers raged on.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, for one, was not pleased. “Paul Ryan is giving the official Republican response,” he said when asked earlier about her dueling response. “Michele Bachmann, just as the other 534 members of the House and Senate, are going to have opinions as to the State of the Union.”
Why do we need to make stuff up to blame the gay for? They’re responsible for Glee.
It’s not on youtube any more but I wanted to hear her talk about how we’re under attack by a “demonic vortex”. By her I mean Jacobs, not Bachmann. (It’s hard to tell them apart.)
