Hypocrites at the gate

CNN has an article today on Texas Governor Rick Perry, and how, in spite of his public condemnation of the stimulus program put forward by the Obama administration, he accepted the funds and used them to cover 97% of his state’s budget shortfall in 2010. Here’s a clip:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry likes to tell Washington to stop meddling in state affairs. He vocally opposed the Obama administration’s 2009 stimulus program to spur the economy and assist cash-strapped states.

Perry also likes to trumpet that his state balanced its budget in 2009, while keeping billions in its rainy day fund.

But he couldn’t have done that without a lot of help from… guess where? Washington.

Turns out Texas was the state that depended the most on those very stimulus funds to plug nearly 97% of its shortfall for fiscal 2010, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures….

In related news, it looks as though libertarian icon Ayn “you’re weak and pathetic if you can’t make it on your own” Rand quite possibly collected both Social Security and Medicare.

I’m not a violent man. I’m really not. But I’d love to take the remains of Any Rand and shove them, bone by bone, right up the ass of politicians like Perry who spew all of this anti big government crap.

Obama should fly out to Texas and deliver a series of speeches on the effectiveness of the stimulus program, holding up their state as a poster child. Assuming Perry won’t show, he should have a giant cutout of the Governor with him on stage. This hypocritical bullshit on the right needs to be called out, and called out in such a way that people take notice.

Didn’t we learn the same exact thing about Bobby Jinda a while agol? I don’t think he suffered any political repercussions because of it. Tea Partiers don’t read papers, and they tend to only hear what’s yelled at them.

Rick Perry is in the news today for something else too.

Rick Perry Asks Republican Voters to Quit Their State Jobs — “I am calling on voters who put the Republican party in control over the last 10 years to leave their state funded job and transition into the private sector” said Perry at a press conference.

    @ Meta.

Given recent events, it is getting harder and harder to tell truth, from fiction, from satire …

Hypocrites seem a lot less fearful of exposure these days.

Only a member of the liberal elite would use a word like “hypocrite”. I don’t know what it means. And I don’t want to know what it means. Ever.

I just want politicians that can “get ‘er done” like Dale Earnhardt. Now there was a man who loved America.

I guess I was a little overzealous after my morning espresso. Thank you for the gentle correction, Glen. I retrospect, I’m not sure what I was thinking.

Would someone remind me not to laugh at my mother then next time she takes an Onion article seriously?

The worst part is, now I’m gun shy. I’ve got a great article that I want to share about a black mom who is going to jail for sending her kids to a white school, but I’m afraid that it too might be satire.
