I guess this was on TV last night. I hadn’t seen it until just now, though, when I followed a link left by someone in the comments section. I don’t consider myself to be a huge fan of Stabenow’s but I really like what she has to say here about the Republican opposition to extending Bush’s tax cuts on the first $250,000 that a person earns. And Maddow raises some great points herself. As they both make abundantly clear, this certainly isn’t a case where the Democrats need to fold. The Republicans can’t do anything without us. Unless they compromise, the tax cuts – all of them – expire at the end of the year. I don’t mind giving a little – like bumping the ceiling up to $500,000 in annual earnings – but I sure as hell wouldn’t cave in and extend the Bush tax cuts across the board as they’re written. We can’t afford the price tag. And, more importantly, they haven’t worked. We’ve had them for ten years, and they haven’t led to significant job growth. I say it’s time to try something new. And I can’t believe that a majority of Americans wouldn’t rally behind Obama if he laid it out so that they could understand it… I think I’m going to go and write Stabenow a letter now, and let her know how proud I am of her.

With the headline STABENOW ON MADDOW I was hoping that maybe a porn tape had surfaced. Thanks for getting my hopes up for nothing.
I was depressed as hell at the video you posted of Mike Pence but when I saw this I felt way better. Glad you posted this for those who don’t read thru the comments.
I agree. This is no time to let the Republicans dictate terms. Three quarters of Americans want to let this tax break for the rich expire. If the Republicans want to hold the tax break for the middle class hostage so-be-it. (I don’t consider making up to $250,000 a year middle class, but you know what I mean.) Maybe then the American people will see them for what they are.
I say let ALL the tax cuts expire. If people are too stupid to see the difference then fuck ’em. It’s like protecting a child who’ constantly punching you in the balls.

Okay, what I don’t get is–WHO would vote for McConnell ever? Boehner I understand a tiny bit because he hoodwinks and sloshes and bullshits handily. But McConnell is the most dreary guy even w/o bringing in his brazen jerkiness (put politely)–WHO would vote for him? I really don’t get it. (I don’t get so much actually.)

It’s about time that a woman in American public life does the right thing and walks away from a spouse after he’s caught with a prostitute. Good for Stabenow. (I guess my anger didn’t extend to three posts.)
The Detroit Syndicate may push their errand boy Mike Cox to run against Stabenow, but I suppose they would rather have him in some executive or law enforcement position where he can run interference for them.
