Sorry to see you go, Christine

There was a whole series of epic anti-Ypsi rants left on Facebook today. As I wasn’t able to sleep, I decided to animate some of them for your amusement.

Mark, this is the greatest. Thank you for the deep belly laugh this morning.

    Well done, Mark!
And FWIW, I love the puppet. Whenever I see puppets anywhere, I turn to whomever I am with (usually the husband) and say, “That would be cool if the Mark Maynard puppet was there, too, hanging out with its puppet friends.”

A laugh like this is great. You should consider making entire posts this way! Imagine your Newt encounter voiced by those robots! That would be a hoot.

HA… I happened to like the “posing at the savoy” …

I imagine there was a button marked “cue crickets”. Right?

  7. Posted August 15, 2010 at 8:08 pm | Permalink

Yeah, I chose the crickets to end it. There are about 20 sound effects to choose from. I thought it worked well to end on her face, though, with the sound of crickets.

And, I’m thinking about transcribing all of my conversations from now on, and archiving them in this format. It’s totally addictive.

Love it- and I’m not the Christine you are talking about…

If she hated the Ypsi that much, she probably would have liked living in the Township.

That – was a great way to start my Monday morning at work! Never gave serious thought to mayoral candidates debating with a puppet moderator but it really is classic Ypsi, come to think of it.

Didn’t she move to Ann Arbor?

Is it true that she moved here after reading several of Mark’s insightful treatises on the art of ball shaving? Did she think that she was moving to a ball-shaving mecca, only to be met by armies of men who, it would appear, cannot either operate or afford to buy razors? Does that account for her hostility?

I don’t know why, but Ypsi is just one of those cursed places. Friday I went down to Frog Island for the Noise Permit festival, but only had a short time and wanted to see the White Ravens at 3:50. And like all poorly organized teen concerts, everything was running late… I had to leave by 4:15 and missed them. Saturday night I drove down to the Savoy to see the Red White & Booze Band, who I hadn’t seen in years. They’re absolutely hilarious. Get all the way down there, to find out they cancelled. Granted, either of these two crappy experiences could have just as easily happened here in Ann Arbor, but, no, they always seem to happen in Ypsi.

    I hear ya, Christine.

MY NAME IS ARTHUR. I BEGAN MAKING LOVE TO CHRISTINE SCHULTZ ON 7/30/2010. I STOPPED HAVING INTIMATE RELATIONS WITH HER ON 7/30/2010. I WILL NEVER MAKE LOVE TO CHRISTINE SCHULTZ AGAIN! I WOULD RATHER DIE MAKING LOVE TO A SACK OF RUSTY RAZOR BLADES THAN SPEND ONE INTIMATE MINUTE WITH HER.

Sounds like someone left the Savoy without getting laid.

Are those anti-ypsi rants someplace public? I’m interested to read them, but only for curiosity’s sake. I really do love it here.

It didn’t even occur to me to send a letter like them when I left California. I guess that was before blogs, though. Still, I should have sent something to the local paper or something. Maybe I’ll do it tonight.

The original rant came from a post on the Michigan
Roots Jamboree FB page, under a link to a certain mm.com story. If someone wanted to post a link to this thread there, I think it would be hilarious. I would, but as a moderator on that page, I think it would be bad form to do so myself…

I don’t even know what those people were talking about acting like puppets are the downfall of modern civilization or something, but thank god those fun-hating, humorless assholes are gone.
