A few days ago, I mentioned that, as a part of the summer’s Shadow Art Fair, the folks from the Ann Arbor Film Festival would be sponsoring a competition of sorts. Here, on that competition, is Donald Harrison, the Director of the Executive Director of the Ann Arbor FIlm Festival.
Donald and I don’t mention it here, but the person with the best 3-minute film incorporating the “ingredients” to be announced at the Corner Brewery at 10:30 AM this Saturday, will win $100 in Shadow Art Fair prize money. So, borrow a Flip camera, if you don’t have one, or, better yet, find a friend with a camera to collaborate with, and give it a shot. You can even shoot the damned thing on an iPhone. There’s really no reason not to participate, especially with $100 up for grabs.
If you want to participate, you can register in advance by following that last link, and scrolling to the bottom of the page, or you can just show up on the morning of the 10th, camera in hand, and take it from there.
Oh, and I should probably mention that my friends Tim and Andrea won a Cinemasports event once, and they did so without so much as leaving their bed. I don’t recall what their “ingredients” were, but you can see their winning submission here.

Not that I would do such a thing, but if people are handing their films in at 9:00, and they’re being screened at 9:30, there really isn’t time for them to be vetted for taste, which opens up a great many possibilities.
I bet I could top Tim and Andrea, and do the whole thing while seated on the toilet.

Unlike the A2 film fest, these are not vetted – enter the screening at your own peril! Any team that goes for over-the-top offensive content may risk the hissing and scorn of the SAF/Ypsi community for minutes, weeks or months.
