I’m struggling with what to write about tonight, as I’ve just been made aware of two equally good stories. On one hand we’ve got Glenn Beck, who, determined to push the insanity throttle even further into the red, recently encouraged his followers to leave their churches if they didn’t immediately abandon the mission of “social justice”. And, on the other, we’ve got Sarah Palin, who, if you can believe it, shared with an audience yesterday that she and her family would cross over into Canada to take advantage of their healthcare system when she was growing up in Alaska… How can I be expected to choose between those two extremely fertile veins of insanity?
Here’s a clip from the story about Beck:
…On his daily radio and television shows last week, Fox News personality Glenn Beck set out to convince his audience that “social justice,” the term many Christian churches use to describe their efforts to address poverty and human rights, is a “code word” for communism and Nazism. Beck urged Christians to discuss the term with their priests and to leave their churches if leaders would not reconsider their emphasis on social justice…
That’s right – the history books don’t tell this – but feeding the poor and hungry is what the Nazis – especially those pesky Communist Nazis – were really all about. Hitler, if I’m not mistaken, would even wash the feet of the homeless in his bunker, between his Meals on Wheels runs into the ghetto.
And isn’t it amazing that Palin survived through her childhood, what with being subjected to the indignities of socialized medicine? How dare her father not keep his family here in the U.S., where the free market could have dictated their care.
OK, now that it’s mostly out of my system, here’s something good for a change – a video of MIT professor Dan Nocera, who believes that he’s found the holy grail of alternative energy – a way to break the hydrogen-oxygen bonds in water efficiently with solar energy, producing a clean source of power with no residual pollution. (Presently, as I understand it, we can break the hydrogen-oxygen bond in water, but it takes more energy to break the molecule than is produced in the process.)
Those evil scientist witches may save our asses yet.

This is what happens when you destroy public schools. (I’m speaking, of course, about Palin and Beck, not the professor.)
I’m not sure what Bible Glen’s been reading. Mark 10:21 “go sell everything you have and give to the poor.” Luke 6:24 “Woe to you rich, you have your reward now.”
What is sad, is that folks soak up what he says without thinking.
Well OBVIOUSLY… I mean duh… it’s got “social” in the name, so it must be Marxist. Can’t let them Commies get a foot in the door with their wedge issues. And ban “Social Studies” in the schools, by the way – that’s clearly pinko indoctrination.

This Magic Energy Stick. This Stick was
in your Daddy’s briefcase when he was
shot down over G.E.. He was
captured and put in a Google
prison camp. Now he knew if the
geeks ever saw the Magic Stick it would be
confiscated. The way your Daddy
looked at it, that Energy Stick was your
birthright. And he’d be damned if
eggheads were gonna put their
greasy green hands on his boy’s
birthright. So he hid it in the
one place he knew he could hide
somethin’. His ass. Five long
years, he wore this Stick up his
ass. Then when he died of
disentary, he gave me the Magic Stick. I
hid with this uncomfortable hunk of
metal up my ass for two years.
Then, after seven years, I was sent
home to my family. And now, little
man, you will never need to charge your phone again.
You sound like a Communist, Tom.
Blah blah blah hydrogen-oxygen bonds blah blah blah. What inquiring minds really want to know is if this guy is like Steven Jobs and put on a black turtleneck in the ’80s and got stuck.
Scientists talk in a language I don’t understand, rarely referencing my favorite celebrities and consumer brands. I don’t know that I’d call them witches, but they are certainly un-American.
If I had been in that audience, I would have been screaming “Drill, Baby, Drill!” They would have had to throw me out. I refuse to sit silently as “scientist” tell me what’s best for me and my family.
I didn’t know where else to mention it but did you see the article in the News about the chair of the Detroit Public School Board and how he’s illiterate? Are things in Detroit really that terrible?
He’s not illiterate, he just writes like Sarah Palin speaks. To his credit, he a Wayne State grad and apparently suffers from dislexia. I think there’s more to this story.
From Think Progress:
Palin’s experience also highlights the fact that American medical-tourism to Canada is common, despite conservatives’ claims that Canada’s health care system drives Canadians into the states. “Every year, thousands of Americans undergo surgery in other countries” where they can receive the same care “at half the price.” “In 2007, an estimated 750,000 Americans traveled abroad for medical care; this number is anticipated to increase to six million by 2010″ — far outpacing the number of Canadians coming into the United States for medical treatment. It’s good to know that Palin was once one of them.
Jesus, commie; Marx, messiah.
I think it’s clear to everyone who has read the Bible that Jesus actually proposed “antisocial injustice,” you know, like flying your private plane into innocent people’s desks. “Turn the other cheek” is clearly a metaphor for whooping the ass of lazy invalids with bedpans.
On the plus side, at least Beck is finally coming to terms with his core opposition. I’m not the betting sort, but if I was, I’d lay my money on Beck to totally crucify Jesus, Ghandi, or any other commie in a cage match.
On the other side, thank God those all wise and uniformly benevolent scientists only offer solutions and don’t come up with crazy destructive shit like the atom bomb, combustible engines, genetically modified foods, Zoloft, etcetera ad nauseum.
At least there’s one force in this world we always count on to step above personal gain and work for pure and holy good?
Nice comment, Lacy. It’s a pleasure to have you on the site.
I see what you’re trying to do here, and I respect it, but I gotz nothing but love for Sara P.
That Nocera clip is fascinating stuff. If it’s real, it’s awesome. Thanks for posting it.
