Nothing left to learn

Linette and I went in and met with Clementine’s kindergardten teacher a few days ago. At the end of the meeting, which had gone very well, her teacher opened a blue notebook and read to us a few of the things that Clementine had said to her earlier in the school year. Linette and I were particularly pleased when she got to the “I want to learn nothing, because I already know all of it” part. I cannot even begin to express the pride that I felt at that moment.

I love to see confident little girls. With that said, though, it might prove difficult to parent a five year old who knows everything. Best of luck with that.

The kid who lives a few doors down from me was walking down the street with a bokan over his shoulder wearing a bunny hat. This is not the strangest thing he’s done. Ypsi breeds them weird. I like it that way.

That statement sounds like you’ve got a little Sean Hannity in the making, Mark. Time to re-program. The rainbow statement at the end is obviously a subliminal hint to you that she is probably gay as well! That can be fixed with intensive therapy and a good dose of religion. EOS probably has an opinion re: same.

    What’s a bokan?

    Maybe he meant burkah.

It’s kind of ironic, but the smartest kid would probably be the one who realized that he/she didn’t know shit.

I’m pretty sure from now on when anyone ask me what my favorite color is, I’m going to answer “rainbow”. Awesome :)

Jojo said today that she was smarter than Rosie and me. I said, “You probably are.” and she said, “I AM.” very emphatically.

I second that on rainbow, best favorite color.
Also, beautiful gusto of self-confidence and being grounded. And what a complex idea anyway–wanting to learn nothing, an antidote to all the knowing, among other ways of reading it.

And it’s boken not bokan. Sorry for the misspell.

I’m reminded of the Southpark episode where Cartman gets sent to Ethiopia.

    — “Clementine the Genius”

Dr.J: [measuring Clementine’s head with calipers]
Tell me, Clementine, are you ever bored in school?
    Clementine: Oh, you bet.
Dr.J: Mm hm. Do you ever feel a little frustrated?
    Clementine: All the time, sir.
Dr.J: Uh huh. And do you ever dream of leaving class to pursue your own
intellectual development on an independent basis?
Clementine: Oh, like you’re reading my mind, man.
