Michael Moore on why he’s reluctantly supporting the health care bill

I know how some of you feel about Michael Moore, but I really like what he had to say this evening on CNN about the health care bill, and why we progressives needed to get behind it, like Dennis Kucinich. I watched it at the gym, sweating profusely, and waiting for some fireworks between Moore and Wolf Blitzer. Sadly, there wasn’t bloodshed, but I found the conversation to be quite interesting. Hopefully you will too…. Oh, and speaking of health care reform, there’s a rumor going around that Obama made a deal with the for-profit hospital lobby early on to keep the public option off the table. If it’s true, it pisses me the hell off, but, then again, I was already pissed off. I feel as though we missed an enormous opportunity here. Still, though, like Moore and Kucinich, I support the passage of this bill.

As I was reminded by the transcendent Crystal Bowers during American Idol’s Rolling Stone’s week: “You can’t always get what you want.”

I guess we have to settle for what we don’t want.

I guess that makes this health care bill like going to the gym to get fit and coming home with HPV.

Sometimes, you don’t get what you want, but what you deserve. By that I mean that we the people should have fought harder. We didn’t, and we got screwed. We failed to scare our elected officials more than the lobbyists. We should have surrounded the Capitol building. Instead, no offense, we watched American Idol.

And, it’s still conceivable that, after the passage of this bill, we could get Grayson’s bill passed, which would extend Medicare to all Americans. I think I posted a link about it a few days ago.

Who the fuck cares what Michael Moore thinks about any bill? Seriously, Michael Moore has approximately the same intellectual capacity as Glenn Beck.

Moore definitely presents information in a manipulative manner, but, to my knowledge, he doesn’t lie. I believe you’d be hard pressed to find factual errors in any of his work. Sure, it’s skewed, but it’s correct. The same cannot be said for Beck. On the reality spectrum, the two men are light years apart.

Pete, what is it that Moore said that you disagree with? I just watched it, and I think his reasoning seemed pretty sound. I can see disliking him as a propagandist, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t be right about health care.

It’s not that I agree or disagree with Mr. Moore. I just don’t think he deserves to be a spokesperson for liberal politics nor do I think that he does anyone on the left any favors.

    “DEVELOPING STORY” Seriously?

I meant to say thanks yesterday, Randall. I put that video up on the front page.
