Clarence Thomas’s wife admits to being absolutely insane

As you know, our country is sick. Many of our friends and neighbors have succumbed to a peculiar form of mental illness known as teabaggery? It’s been traveling, like a virus, through the population for about a year now, and, I’m sad to report, it’s finally reached the U.S. Supreme Court. According to reports in the press today, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence “Is that my pubic hair on your Coke” Thomas, Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, has come out as a proud Tea Party patriot. Here’s a clip from the LA Times:

…”I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Neb., who just may have the chance to preserve liberty along with you and other people like you,” she said at a recent panel discussion with tea party leaders in Washington. Thomas went on to count herself among those energized into action by President Obama’s “hard-left agenda.”

But Thomas is no ordinary activist.

She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court.

In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative “core principles,” she said…

Maybe it’s just me, but isn’t this the equivalent of a left-leaning Supreme Court Justice announcing that her husband believes that our last few Republican presidents were blood-drinking reptilian humanoids from outer space?

I mean, I know it’s a free country, and she should be able to do whatever she wants, but isn’t there a line somewhere that shouldn’t be crossed? Is it OK if she starts wearing an Obama-as-the-Joker t-shirt? How about if she starts making comments about how Obama is having ovens built in which to kill Christians?

It’s also worth noting that Thomas is counselor to the President of Michigan’s ultra-conservative Hillsdale College. (Prior to joining Hillsdale, she worked at the Heritage Foundation, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.)

Oh, and here’s my favorite part of her official bio: “She is intrigued by Glenn Beck and listening carefully. She also enjoys motor homing and watching ’24’.”

Maybe it was all the pubic hairs in her Coke that drove her insane. Or the repeated mentions of Long Dong Silver.

So she was for a swarthy man and his posse undermining the foundation of this country, before she was against it.

    Well done, Sir Dragon.

I need some more info before I can get too upset about a woman expressing her opinions because it might reflect poorly on her husband’s job.

“Swarthy” dragon? God. Just say “black” or whatever you were thinking.

I don’t think the problem was her expressing her views so much, Lacy, as it was that her views were insane and anti-American.

Watching 24 and Glenn Beck in a motor home is probably the most disgusting thing that I have even heard. The only thing that could possibly make it worse, is if they were on their way to hunt endangered species.

Ya know, its interesting…Mrs. Thomas is an “expert” at the Heritage Foundation. (http://www.heritage.org/About/Staff/T/Virginia-Thomas)

Nice lucrative job to have in Washington while the Husband is busy not saying anything in court.

Coors money at its finest don’t ya think?

It’s cool that the far right have found ways to funnel money to her as she goes about the work of educating her husband.

The airwaves are filled with men gone crazy. Thomas deserves to be tried on his on lunacy, not because he can’t keep a tight enough leash on his woman. Sorry, I’ve got a visceral reaction against the idea that Thomas has finally crossed a line because his woman is “insane.” But then I’m from Alabama and Daddy kept barefoot in the basement until I was 43 so I wouldn’t fall to prey the temptations of them swarthy men.

I’m sympathetic, Lacy, but, when it comes to tea parties, I have a different standard. And it has nothing to do, by the way, with the fact that it’s his wife. I’d be saying the same thing if it were the husband of a female member of the Supreme Court. The tea party movement is absolute insanity, and I cannot accept that it’s one pubic hair away from a Justice of the highest court in the land.

And, for what it’s worth, I’m sorry to hear about your being locked in abasement for 43 years. That must suck.

This must be why Lacy was so anxious for you to set up a speed dating event?
