Am I the only one who read the press release from PETA about how they wanted to replace Punxsutawney Phil with a robotic groundhog, and thought of Mark Pauline and his terrifying, robotic animal carcasses? While I don’t support PETA across the board these days, I could totally get behind something like that.

I immediately thought of Teddy.
I tried for a while to find images of the early Pauline work, which incorporated the remains of dead animals and robotics, but I couldn’t find anything. I have this clear image in my head of a slowly lumbering robotic groundhog or badger making its way across a stage, but I can’t seem to find a photo. Maybe I imagined it.
And, yeah, Teddy Ruxpin is probably scarier anyway.
I’d be fine with a robot gopher, especially if it could shoot flames out of its mouth.
What we really need is a demon sheep. Groundhogs aren’t dangerous enough.

For those of you who don’t know, that ad that Ted links to was produced by Carly Fiorina, the woman who drove Hewlett-Packard off a cliff. She’s running in the Republican primary for Senate in California. And, as evidenced by this ad, she’s batshitinsane.
