Since I couldn’t get in to Mittenfest, I’m doing the next best thing…

I’m sitting at my kitchen table, eating cheese, and watching Fantasy Island.

It was super cold out and the line had about 20 people in it. I’ll try to come by earlier tonight… And this episode of Fantasy Island really sucked. It was hilariously bad. I’m thinking of trying to track down the writers.

So, has anyone watched this? I want to discuss it with someone.

Actually, I was thinking that it would be cool if every week, at the same time, I put up an old TV show, and we all watched it together, leaving comments, etc… Does that sound good to anyone?

    Yes.
I remember a long while ago you mentioned watching “Hazel” as a youngster. That would be fun to see again. And the episode of “Love Boat” with Roger Miller singing “King of the Road.”

To compose the phd thesis about this post will not be simple, but, then again, I didn’t decide to become an academic in order to avoid difficult work.

I got to Mittenfest last night and got some footage of Jib Kidder.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get Black Jake and the Carnies doing “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

Weird timing. The NYT has a piece today on people chatting while watching TV shows apart from one another.

The only thing that Jib Kidder video is missing is the rest of the Elbow Room looking at their watches wondering how much longer they had to endure that crap.

I have Black Jake”s Girls Just Want To Have Fun in its entirety. I am going to buy a computer after work today and I will actually be able to get it off my BlackBerry. I would be happy to get you a copy Mark. The video is good, the sound is so so.

I’m really glad you brought up being an audience plant, Mark; it’s opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for me.

Blake Jake, for those of you who didn’t understand his comment, is referring to a conversation that he and I had in the meat world. I was telling him that I would like to have gotten footage of his band’s cover of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” but that I couldn’t, because I wasn’t given any warning. I suggested that we could have orchestrated it in such a way that I would have had a clue… Here’s what I suggested…. Jake could yell into the audience, “What do girls want?” And then I could respond, “They just wanna have fun, Jake.” And then the band would start playing and I’d start recording… And apparently this idea of mine has put his devious little cogs in motion.
