Bathtub IV from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.
There’s tons of stuff that I should probably be writing about tonight, but it’s feeling more like a Lay My Ass Down in Front of the TV Night. So, here, because I don’t want to leave you with nothing to think about, is an absolutely beautiful piece of tilt-shift video work by a guy in Sydney named Keith Loutit that I found out about today on Metafilter. I’ve been a fan of tilt-shift photography for some time, but, somehow, it never occurred to me that you might be able to accomplish the same thing with moving images. It’s insanely beautiful stuff. I could watch it for days and days. Maybe it’s an OCD thing. Maybe it’s just that everything looks so clean and manageable when viewed at this scale.

That is really cool. I also like the video titled metal heart http://vimeo.com/2317118
The perspective feels so true, doesn’t it?
Of course, it’s all a trick. At least that’s how we’ve come to define anything that feels so true.
Somebody must be weighting the scale.
Nothing is measurable. Can be measured without calculation.
It’s wonderful.
I feel like I took acid.
Am I the only one watching this and thinking how truly awesome it would be for porn?
This is cool. I can’t find a clip of it, strangely enough, but the Joss Whedon show Dollhouse uses tilt-shift imagery in their opening credits sequence.
I don’t understand why one needs tilt shift to make the miniature video. Isn’t this like Thomas the Tank Engine? Just use little things and tell a story? [I know I’m sounding like a total rube. Sorry] Or is it that title shift helps with the illusion of full scale when using miniatures because you can blur the fore- and backgrounds, thus giving it a more realistic (for full scale) appearance?
I will be working on some TS Video very soon…I’m so excited. After being able to use TS with my architecture work I’m so excited to try it with video. You only like this because of the Music Mark. You aren’t fooling me sir.
Keith Loutit has a new tilt shift video out. Its an ad for HP but it is awesome.
