Video surfaces of Glenn Beck’s 9/12 attack on America

You’ve seen the photos – now check out the video.

If you can believe it, some of them can even speak!

There is one good piece of news, though. According to Nate Silver, there’s no way 2 million people participated in this orgy of delusion at the Capitol, as some on the right are claiming… Here’s a clip:

…But yesterday, someone told a real whopper. ABC News, citing the DC fire department, reported that between 60,000 and 70,000 people had attended the tea party rally at the Capitol. By the time this figure reached Michelle Malkin, however, it had been blown up to 2,000,000. There is a big difference, obviously, between 70,000 and 2,000,000. That’s not a twofold or threefold exaggeration — it’s roughly a thirtyfold exaggeration.

The way this false estimate came into being is relatively simple: Matt Kibbe, the president of FreedomWorks, lied, claiming that ABC News had reported numbers of between 1.0 and 1.5 million when they never did anything of the sort. A few tweets later, the numbers had been exaggerated still further to 2 million. Kibbe wasn’t “in error”, as Malkin gently puts it. He lied. He did the equivalent of telling people that his penis is 53 inches long…

I’m amazed at the confidence with which these fuckwits spew their jibberish.
    More.

With at least half of the world’s proven reserves, we must be the Saudi Arabia of stupid.

Maybe there is something akin to poetic justice at play re. the Promise Keepers photo being used for the Saturday rally in DC. It reminds people about the PK effort and that some members of the group have slipped up on the keeping promises front:

while no one is accusing Ensign of perjury, one could argue that the senator never told voters that he advocated such things as having an affair with a married staffer and then getting his wealthy parents to pay her and her family $96,000 after she left his employ. Quite the opposite.

Ensign, a social conservative who has also railed against gay marriage, belongs to the Christian ministry Promise Keepers, whose members adhere to seven vows. Here are two of them:

No. 3: A Promise Keeper is committed to practicing spiritual, moral, ethical, and sexual purity.

No. 4: A Promise Keeper is committed to building strong marriages and families through love, protection and biblical values.

That’s a very well done video. I like the way he talks with them without contempt or scorn. He just politely tells them facts, things they’ve never heard obviously. I actually thought I saw a little crack or two of light getting it’s way into a brain. What an evil, opportunistic piece of shit Glenn Beck is. He should be forced to watch this repeatedly, ala Clockwork Orange. Fox needs to be driven out of business. They’ve proven to be extremely harmful to this country.

The atlantic has an interesting post that says there was another rally that filled much of the mall on 9/12 – the 24th annual Black family reunion

That video is very similar to another video I’ve seen called “Right America”. It’s an HBO Documentary that follows the McCain campaign to different rallies and interviews supporters. It’s a good laugh if you’ve got an extra 50 minutes. They come off looking just as ridiculous as those in this video.

They should have sent armed Americorps personnel into the fray with official looking documentation directing protesters toward Obama Reeducation Camps.

Loved this video – I really need to study the way he talks with the people at this 9/12 event… a great example of “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it”.

It’s amazing really… he told them a fact, and they didn’t get angry, they didn’t walk away or call him a commie. They actually let it sink in.

I’m in favor of deporting anybody who doesn’t know Ronald Reagan was the first to appoint a “Czar.” If a person doesn’t even care enough about the USA to know basic facts about it, they need to get out. America for Americans!

Would it really be that wrong to give these people a few southern states, and let them try to create a Republican paradise? I think they deserve a chance to have no taxes and Biblical law.

    Thank you, Pete.

[For those of you not following along on the Book of Faces, Pete had been contending that the the right wing today is no loonier than the left was during the years of GW Bush. I, of course, disagreed.]

And can you imagine what it must have been like on the Mall for the people who were there on Saturday to participate in the black family reunion?

I still contend that there is a large loon base on the left. They just speak in complete sentences.

Here’s a link showing signage in Iraq Veterans against the War pics from the January 2007 antiwar march in DC: http://ivaw.org/photos/gallery/Anti-war+March,+Washington+DC,+January+2007. So earnest and well-meaning; so not vile.

I would rather have super crazy people lobbying for less government power than slightly crazy people arguing for more. The latter can do far more damage with that kind of power than the former.

Karl, are you kidding me? These people (in the video) are not lobbying for less government power. They are lobbying against Czars, “socialism” (in their minds equivalent with facism), and “volunteer armies with weapons,” all of which is fueled by ignorance, fear, and delusion. The problem is NOT people arguing for less government-I can deal with that, even if I disagree. It’s the nutjobs that just ape what they hear without really thinking that deeply disturbs me. My opinion is that this (the types of protests you see in the video) is an expression racism and fear of a black president.

Yes, they’re lobbying for less Government spending and less Government control. They’re wrong on a lot of conspiracy theories, but the gist is less Government spending, less Government control.

    Karl,
I could almost believe it had I not lived on earth the last 8 years. Not one these “Less Government, Less Spending” Peeps let out a single peep about deficit spending before Obama was elected. They were all about running up the deficit for their dirty war, coming from a surplus, Bush brought us to this point in time. And now these same evil peeps cannot support spending on American health. Oh yeah, they fear an illegal might get medical care in an emergency room, and then they go to church on Sundays. I cannot imagine how these less gov’t peeps can sleep at night. Go on drinking the tea…

Maryd, that’s just plain untrue. Even in the republican media they were getting really pissed at Bush for his spending policies, and especially the bank bailouts. This has been brewing since before obama was elected.

The bailout occured during the last lameduck moments of his presidency and the worry about the debt was so late in the game, pure election year politics. Were you referring to those who supported the war from day one to today? Pure hypocrosy, plain and simple.
Republican media? Is that FOX news you are referring to? HA! HA! HA!

Fox news is owned by a man who contributed to Hillary’s campaign. Republican or conservative? I don’t think so. Just someone willing to sometimes give a voice to an ideology that is excluded in other venues. And he’s reaping millions as a result.
