Wretched Hive shirt: first attempt

iscumv1

Last night, I asked you, the talented members of the MM.com community, to channel your vast creative powers toward a task vital to the survival of our species. I asked you to design a t-shirt emblazoned with the phrase – “a wretched hive of scum and villainy.” And, as of a few minutes ago, I received the first submission, which comes from a man here in Ypsilanti named Eric Lagergren.

Think you can do better? Let’s see.

Oh, and of all the ideas that were mentioned in the comments following last night’s post, I was particularly fond of this one from a fellow named Karl.

What about two giant, hairy balls being shaved, and the falling pubic hairs spell out “Mark Maynard dotcom”?

Disgusting? Yes. But I think it might provoke good dialogue on a whole host of issues.

Oh, and I also liked the idea that someone had of using a really happy font and an image of a unicorn leaping over a rainbow with an adorable kitten on its back.

And here’s the best part. The winner will receive a “lost weekend” getaway package with pillars of family values virtue Mark Sanford, South Carolina’s Republican Governor, John Ensign, Republican Senator from Nevada, and evangelical preacher Ted Haggard. (Amyl nitrate and methamphetamine included.)

Please send all submissions to MarkMaynard11@gmail.com.

I’d prefer a shirt with a long line of shackled 1940s era hillbillies being led to Michigan by slave drivers on Segways. Can someone PLEASE do that?

If I had anything but the mere modicum of knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator, oh how much fun Mark’s requests for images would be. There have to be graphic designers out there with a few minutes to devote to Mark’s tshirts (some of those Shadow Art Fair poster designers), maybe? My clipart image was simply a first salvo for a mm tshirt, because no one else sent anything in. Do, though. Do!

I’ve always thought that a great “Ypsitucky” shirt design would be a line drawing of the water tower, with the base resting in Kentucky, and the star at the tip marking Ypsilanti (or, with the state of Michigan giving the water tower a hand job).

Please, please, please, can we get one that says “Ypsilanti, a wretched hive of scum and villainy” with MM.com logo, maybe on the back. I don’t have the skills to print it up myself, but I sure would like one to wear to city council meetings. Maybe we can work Ypsitucky into it too…

Agreed. It could be an Ypsi shirt, brought to you by the MM.com community.

It’s been suggested that Sanford was taken away in the rapture.

Since we’re just throwing out ideas, how about something reminiscent of “Night of the Hunter” with YPSI and TUCKY tattooed across Mitchum’s fingers.

I’ve received one more submission. I’ll try to get it on tomorrow.

And it looks like Sanford was in Argentina with his lover all this time…. I don’t know about you, but I was really shocked. I believed his staff 100% when they said he was hiking the Appalachian trail by himself, clearing his mind so that he could better address the problems of America.

Fucking hypocrites, the lot of them.

Well, Sanford has already resigned from some groups and it’s very unlikely he’ll get reelected. If his wife can’t trust him, why should his constituents? To have standards and then fail to meet them is not so much hypocritical as it is human. Who hasn’t made huge mistakes that they regret? However, to have no standards at all doesn’t make a person righteous.
