As of right now, no one has sent in a pencil paparazzi sketch, but word on the street is that two-time Oscar-winning actor Robert DeNiro was in Ypsi today, filming on River Street.

The movie is called Stone.
I saw DeNiro filming outside of Emmanuel Lutheran on River last night. As a tie-in to the church question, it looks the pastor of the church is an extra in the film.
I hear they’re shooting outside of Sidetrack right now.
what about christopher walken in detroit! even better.
Seriously, someone needs to draw what they’ve seen. Don’t make me beg.
My daughter’s house was scouted by a movie starring Samuel L. Jackson. Coming to a theatre near you.
Mark…you talkin’ to me? Huh? You talkin’ to me?
lol! i was there filming with them :) it was great!
Mark, I have a “pencil paparazzi” for you from my sighting of DeNiro earlier tonight, filming up at the Tap Room. The drawing is of him walking into the building. Unfortunately, I have never posted to your site before and am not certain how to do that-can you help me out? Or should I e-mail it to you? (of course the quality is not good…but it is a pencil paparazzi nonetheless!!)
Diggin’ “Ypsiwood!!”:)
The movie also stars Edward Norton. They are shooting scenes today inside the Beer Cooler store on Washington street, right behind my recording studio. I can’t wait for them to start so I can see how hollywood works!
P.S. Robert DeNiro is one of the all-time greatest actors! I’m sure just about everyone has seen Goodfellas, or what about Heat, man the list goes on and on…..
they’ve been in jackson for the past two weeks. They will be heading back to jackson next tuesday
Hell yeah!!! We saw them shoot a scene at the beer cooler today!! It was soo cool, when they were done @ the store Robert went straight to his trailer and stayed for about three hours. We stayed out there the whole time, just talkin shit and kickin it. When he finally came out everybody was soooo hyped up, we all ran up tp his car and was beggen for his john doe, and he hooked us up. Thank you sooo much Robert!! We love you soo much, you are a great actor, and a good man. For anybody that was there, ya”ll remember me, I was saying HELL YEAH ROBERT!! WE LOVE YOU… (light-skinned chick)>. OK…..
After being on S. Washington tonight they were going to shoot on N. Washington. They”re probably still there filming in the Y baby. That’s what’s up!! They puttin OUR city on the map. Y-P-S-I till the day I die!!! Holla at ya girl @springsfavorite@yahoo.com.
Filming on Pearl Street went on all night last night ’til about five in the morning.
Yes, and I finally saw Edward Norton!!! DREAMY…sigh…
People worshippers crack me up.
Ah yes and online blog chumpers crack me up too!! So I am a worshipper because I said he was “DREAMY” – whatev…
So dreamy…. So fine… He”s all that, and some. Okkkay.
I bet he’ll give you a role on a film. Are you ready to be discovered? Your destiny is at your doorstep!!!
Ok. Is it the movie people who have a bunch of trailers set up in the parking lot of 555 Michigan Ave? Or is someone trying to sell RVs?
Because if it is the movie people, I might have to bring a sketch pad with me if I decided to walk over to the Dairy Queen.
People worshippers are online blog chumper’s crack. ‘Blog chumpers’ cracks me up. What ev.
BA, do you call fans of Black Jake and the Carnies “people worshippers” too? Just curious.
If they worshipped them I would. Especially if they posted their email addresses on your blog and told them to holla.
No fan has ever told me to holla at their personal email address. Thanks for rubbing it in, Mark.
I personally don’t want anyone to worship me, but if you do, if you could bypass Mark’s blog and contact us via our myspace, that’d be great. In return for your burnt offerings and sycophancy, I promise to disappoint your unrealistic expectations somehow. Thank you.
Here is a story of an *almost* fan moment.
I almost went to that wig out thing at the magic stick or whatever that place above the garden bowl is called because I saw that Black Jake was playing and I thought it would be fun. But no one had their wigs with them and even though we were already in Detroit, we had the dogs with us so we would have had to bring em back to Ypsilanti first anyways. But I *almost* would have been a fan.
I might have sketched it too.
Serves us right for not being Robert DeNiro.
Which type of chumper am I?
Remember when people kept posting stuff here for Drew Barrymore to see, so that she’d put them on her film or something? Damn that was funny. I assume they were fake, but part of me fears they weren’t.
BA, you must be the #2 type of chumper. I have neeever seen you with a “skitch”.
Don’t be such chumplestiltskins, boys.

Get off my computer screen you no good little punks!
*shakes fist impotently*
Well for one I was not telling any moviestar to “holla” at me, I was talking to the people on here who would like to chat and kick it, and you think what you want- so will I peace out..
Don’t listen to him – I am prepared to kick it. Where shall we start?
Supa-koo-wah-ee!
My son and I went down to Pearl and Washington last night just as things were wrapping up and nearly got run over by a black Lexus SUV with De Niro in the backseat. We asked the security goons what the remaining schedule was and they said next morning (today) was last shoot in Ypsi. So we went back out this morning at 7:30 and waited in the rain across from the ACE and Shoe Cobbler. The scene was being shot in the old VG kids upstairs space. Shortly after 8am, the same black Lexus pulled up in front of the building. De Niro stepped out and some lackey rushed up with an umbrella so he wouldn’t get a few drops of rain on his head during the long 3 foot walk from the car to the door, which was likely driven all of one block from the trailer on Washington. Anyway, my son was thrilled; I was mildly excited at seeing the Raging Bull. But mostly I was reflective on the sad fact that, even in mild-mannered Ypsi, these stars can’t get out and walk a block to work. Anyways, first Swank at SideTrack, now De Niro. What next?
They were getting ready to film again in downtown Ypsi again early this morning, around 7:00 AM. I think I saw Robert Di Nero but can’t be positive. He had a greyish goatee and a baseball cap, and was wearing something like a nylon parka.
They have a section of Mast Road, north of Dexter, blocked off where they are filming a scene involving some pyrotechnics.
The apartment above the Shoe Cobbler is rented by a young man I know. The film crew was VERY generous when they asked him to move out for three weeks. They have provided a nice living arrangement as well as a generous stipend for meals. He also had the opportunity to meet the great Mr. DiNero.
The catering crew is using Cady’s (Celebrations) kitchen in Depot Town. They told me today they are booked in the area until late September. The next film will be a kids film and the producer will be Rob Reiner. There’s also an indie film being produced.
They are helping our economy in Ypsi by using local businesses when needed, renting apartments for their stay, partying downtown and in Depot Town, paying the city for their services, and hiring some locals to help them out. They told me Detroit is going for the last penny available and they have decided to not base themselves there. They really like working with and in Ypsi…good folks!
shademan: not to say DeNiro doesn’t probably have some personality flaws like everybody else, but in this case he might have already gone through hair, makeup, and wardrobe. It’s easier to just plop him in a car and have some schlub hold an umbrella over him when he gets out then have everybody humming and hawing about the vanities having to waste time to touch up his looks on set if he got rained on. That’s just a guess on my part though, maybe not.
