Today’s quote of the day comes from across the pond. In an article in the UK’s Guardian newspaper, columnist Gary Younge had the following to say on the subject of torture:
…The best intelligence the Bush administration ever had was a month before 9/11, when it received a memo entitled “Bin Laden determined to attack inside the US” from the FBI, warning of “patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings”. No torture was involved; no action was taken…

In Bush’s defense, he was on vacation at the time that particular memo came in.
My quote of the day comes from the LiveScience site.

Even if cars soon start running entirely on electricity or hydrogen, they’ll still need 100 gallons or more of oil to make their plastic parts, such as seats, dashboards, bumpers, and engine components.
He didn’t say it today, at least as far as I know, but my favorite quote is from the performer Ice T, who once said “You can suck my dick, while I take a shit, all day.”
A Mayor Young quote is still in my tops:
“White people find it extremely hard to live in an environment they don’t control.”
It just keeps proving itself, over and over.
I think that’s basically what Ice-T was getting at.
Another good quote came from Arnold Schwarzeneger today… “I think that they say Rush Limbaugh is the 800 lb. gorilla in the Republican Party, but I think that’s mean spirited to say that because I think he’s down to 650 lbs.”
Not that I approve of fat jokes…
