Remember my cousin Shane – the one who referees college basketball in Kentucky? Well, he and his girlfriend, Leah, got married this weekend in Lexington. I’d like to post a photo of the adorable young couple, wish them luck, and all that stuff, but most of my photos were taken far away from the happy bride and groom, in a fenced-off area, off to the side of the building where the reception was being held. That’s where Clementine and all my cousins’ kids were penned up. Like the textbook social phobic that I am, I spent most of the reception with them, running around in a dried-out kiddy pool, instead of inside, joining in adult conversations about sports, business, plastics, and the like… So, if you were wondering, that’s why I wasn’t out yesterday, participating in Ypsi Pride day. It wasn’t that I was hiding inside my house, fearful that, if I came out, someone might identify me as a proud Ypsilantian. In spite of all the ridiculous stuff going on here, I still love this place.

A little long to fit on a t-shirt, but a very apt sentiment, just the same.
“…in a fenced-off area, off to the side of the building.”
They got married in a “free-speech area?”
I too made that connection, Chelsea. It wasn’t the wedding that took place in the Free Speech Zone, though. That’s just where those too young to be served at the bar were relegated to.
