Pencil Paparazzi

Get your pencils sharpened. According to the Ypsilanti Citizen, filming for the Hilary Swank movie “Betty Anne Waters” begins on Michigan Avenue this Wednesday. Here’s a clip:

…On March 16, filming for the movie “Betty Anne Waters,” will carry over to Downtown Ypsilanti. Starring Hilary Swank, Minnie Driver and Sam Rockwell, the movie has already been filmed in Ann Arbor and Chelsea.

Much of the filming is scheduled to take place in and around the Freeman Bunting Insurance building on Michigan Avenue. Parking spaces on both sides of Michigan Avenue will be utilized for the movie, as well as much of the parking lot behind the building.

Throughout the first half of the day filming will take place on Michigan Avenue itself, which will lead to short, two to five minute, street closures from Washington to Huron streets…

So, you know what to do, right? If you see anyone remotely famous, don’t reach for your camera. Just sketch them, or some specific element of them, as best you can, and send the image in to, where, if you’re lucky, you can join the likes of Ted Kennedy, who so brilliantly captured Sam Rockwell’s sweatpants for us yesterday.

And, no, you don’t necessarily have to be from Michigan to participate.

A girl in my high school had some gum that was spit out by Huey Lewis. If she has it, I’ll see if she can draw it for you. I think it would make a good companion piece to Ted’s drawing of Mr. Rockwell.

Another friend had to wait outside a hotel room door while her 16 year old friend was bedded by Oates, of Hall and Oates fame. If you want, I can ask her to draw the door.
