Rebuilding the Links

Now that the site is kind of up and kind of running, I need to start repopulating the links on the right hand side of the page. In the past, I linked to a number of local Ypsi/Arbor blogs, several news sources, a few left-leaning political sites, and the occasional arts organization and non-profit. I can’t promise that I’ll act on all of your suggestions, but I thought that I’d open up a thread where you could tell me 1) whether or not you ever used the links on the old site, and 2) what you thought of the selection and how it was organized… Was there anything that you found conspicuously absent? Was there something that you would have liked to have seen more of? (An entire goatse section, maybe?) Could things perhaps have been organized in a better way? (Maybe alphabetical, with the Ypsi-centric stuff coming last, instead of first?)

I used to use the links to jump from your site to Brian Robb’s site most every day.

You know, way back in the way back machine when he was obsessed with every groundhog that was hugged in a City Council meetings.

Back when he held mild disdain for anyone who preferred American Idol over council meetings.

Back when he was committed to transparency in government.

Back when he talked about something other than Wireless Ypsilanti.

Back when he questioned City Council, before he was City Council.

    Before the perks.

In short, I haven’t used the links in a long time. Best ask someone else.

Maybe people could propose links and then we could vote. Or maybe we could just agree to the general headings, like Transportation, Civil Rights, Ypsilanti, Food Production, Local Business.

As Councilmember Robb’s personal attorney, I am pleased to report that he’s been very busy working on getting a restraining order against one of his creepy neighbors that is stalking him. Once this important task has been completed, I’ve no doubt that he will be delighted to get back to blogging.

I used the links to the local blogs plus some of the other Michgian blogs like Hamtramck Star.

OK, I’ll start putting them back up. Every night I’ll try to add a few more. If you see that I’ve left any good blogs off, just leave a comment in this thread and I’ll see what I can do.

    Trusty,

I also remember with fondness the days when peering through Robb’s windows meant he’d personally chase you off with bats and rocks, not call his lawyer. Alas, the good old days.

Still, there has to be some satisfaction for him that I was able to recall his post featuring Puxatony Phil. I mean, stalking is still the sincerest form of flattery, right?

I can say for sure I enjoyed looking at all the links and occasionally trying a new site out. And I really enjoyed being actually *on* the link list.

This may or may not help you in your decision.

I thought you were on vacation. My MM rss feed went dark. Now I see it’s from the site update. Perhaps you can figure out how to fix the feed. I changed my link to the one on the sidebar, but it still only has posts through the end of January.

Ken, I just got this back from Steve. I hope it helps:

There are two links on your sidebar:

    http://markmaynard.com/?feed=rss2
    http://markmaynard.com/?feed=comments-rss2

According to my readings, both are up-to-date rss representations of your site via rss.
