and leave the plate, santa

Clementine was concerned that Santa might think that we wanted for him to take the plate too, in addition to the cookie and the carrot, so she wanted to write a note.

Was the cookie for the reindeer?

    The cookie was for Rudolph.

The carrot was for Mrs. Claus.

There were actually two cookies. One was wrapped up in a wax paper bag. Clementine thought that Santa should eat one, and then take one with him. The carrot was for the reindeer. I ate everything after she went to bed, leaving the nubbin of carrot and a few crumbs on the plate. The dog ate them in the night, though.

And, thank you for soiling my lovely, sweet, and innocent Christmas memories with your comment about violating Mrs. Claus with a carrot, Ed.

    I said NO SUCH THING!

Knowing she’s a vegetarian, I thought it was a sweet gesture on your part.

    Humbug!

Silver candlesticks? Hell no, officer, we wouldn’t even let that guy take the cookie plate!

Let him feed it to one of his raindeer and leave the health freak a lump of coal
