The “Columbia Journalism Review” website has an interesting interview with “New York Times” reporter Lawrence K. Altman that I think you might find of interest. Here’s the background:
Three weeks ago, John McCain, who would be the oldest president in history if elected, released 1,173 pages of his medical records to the press. He did so only after a series of delays, however, and then granted a pool of about a dozen news outlets access to them for three hours, with no photocopying allowed. One reporter whose employer was not invited to view the documents was The New York Times’s Lawrence K. Altman. His exclusion was a bit ironic, given that he is an M.D. and was part of the group that viewed the last batch of McCain’s medical records, which the senator released in 1999 during his first bid for the Oval Office. Those earlier records covered McCain’s well-being prior to 2000, including his experience as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War and his treatment for melanoma, among other things. Last month’s disclosure covered his life since and showed that the cancer has not recurred and that, despite a few effects of age, he is mostly healthy…
At least that’s the consensus of the select group of reporters allowed to briefly view the 1,173 pages.
More information about McCain’s health records, including a video compilation of media reports, just click here…. And, I don’t know that it would do much good, but if you’d like to sign a petition requesting that McCain’s records be released, you can find one there as well.

Anywhere in those 1,000 pages did it mention what his cheeks are packed with?
Don’t worry. They’ll release ’em right after they switch his meds in January to stick that bimbo into the Oval office…and then it’s on to Iran, and Georgia, and whatever looks good next.
I didn’t read his health records, but now I know why you libs are so delusional, you veg heads have small brains.

Now you’re starting to make sense, ytown. Where are the best steaks around Ypsi anyway?
Knights in A2
My dad was a dermatologist and was terrified whenever he saw s/o and did a biopsy that came back melanoma. He used to say that everyone he saw where this was the case, was dead within a year.
Well things have changed, but still a melanoma is serious business and John?– he’s had a recurrence. Sooo… get ready for a moose shootin
Woman president — I know that’d thrill ya ytown.
Just seconding the vote for Knight’s. Biggest scotch pours in town too.
Knight’s.
Walking back in time to 1974.
Yummy meat.
And his cheeks are packed with fetal stem cells.
He stays alive by eating babies.
Yes, ytown, I like Knight’s too. I live close to there. The steak is very good, and so was the pork I’ve had there. The fish dishes were damn good also. On top of all that, they probably have the best service in Ann Arbor.
I don’t want to put down vegitarian dishes though. Ann Arbor just doesn’t have very good vegitarian places compared to other towns I’ve been in. I had one really good dish once at Seva years ago and then have been disappointed ever since. The service was terrible. The server returned to my table a record three times to have me repeat my order. I think those kids smoke too much pot.
Anyway, back to the original subject of Mark’s post. McCain is on dozens of medications. It won’t take much for the folks who want Palin in the top spot to just pull the plug on him after the election is over. Then they can let another 9/11 through, and we can go into Iran.
I’m still waiting for Clinton to release his health records.
Robert Dale, who ever needed Clinton’s records? We all can guess what’s on ’em. He’s as healthy as a horse, with just a venereal disease or two.
Sorry I called you ‘Robert Dale’, mister Dole. By the way, how’s your wife doin’? Oh yeah, she’s about to get her ass booted out of the Senate. Sorry about that.
I found the image in McCain’s health records that he didn’t want anyone to see. Here it is.
Yesterday’s New York Times had an article on candidate medical records:
