I got a letter from the Obama campaign today, asking me to get together with my most talented friends to make a video about their candidate and why I was supporting him. I dismissed the suggestion pretty quickly, but, a few minutes later, I received a note from my friend Kerri pointing me toward this video by McCain supporters. It’s got be all inspired. Right now, it’s a toss up between “Hungry Like the Obama” and “Stairway to Obama.”

At 1:58 into it, the woman washes her face with McCain. You have to see it.
So much to love in this one. The face washing part was when I really lost it.
There’s a great comment on this on MetaFilter: “One of them keeps becoming partially invisible, as if she went back in time to 1955 and nearly broke up her parents at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.”
Have you seen Hillary4U&Me? Don’t watch it on a full stomach.
One good thing about the hubbub surrounding Obama’s pastor is that America may now believe that he isn’t, as Hillary said she was unsure of, a Muslim, even if he is apparently exposed as something far worse. (Anybody else watching CNN last night?)
Seriously, can anyone remind me of a viable candidate in my lifetime (post JFK) where religious scrutiny was so high? It would seem, McCain’s pastor, Dan Yeary, giving accolades (granting an award and saying he “truly epitomized greatness”) to the KKK’s David Duke ain’t as scandalous as a black pastor saying America’s run by rich, white men.
Still, as I think we need to look past the primary to sure up Obama’s credentials are up for the general vs. McCain, I recommend we seek not the cause for our youtube crusade but embrace The Cure.
I’m willing to work on lyrical revisions…
