if only mrs. spitzer swallowed, and how we’re going to war with iran

Screeching, hypocritical radio shrew Dr. Laura Schlessinger was on NBC this morning, weighing in on the situation surrounding now former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. Her analysis, as always, is unique. She blames Spitzer’s wife, who, in the opinion of the right wing radio host, didn’t “make him feel like a man.” Here’s a clip:

…When the wife does not focus in on the needs and the feelings — sexually, personally — to make him feel like a man, to make him feel like a success, to make him feel like her hero, he’s very susceptible to the charm of some other woman…

The cheating was his decision to repair what’s damaged and to feed himself where he’s starving. But yes, I hold women accountable for tossing out perfectly good men by not treating them with the love and kindness and respect and attention they need…

And, as we all know, the lovely Dr. Laura knows just how to keep a man happy. (Warning: That link will take you to the infamous nude photos of Dr. Laura taken by her then married employer, with whom she was having an affair.) Good work, Dr. Laura!

In the real news, not that anyone cares, it looks like we’re now a hell of a lot closer to war with Iran. CentCom Chief Admiral Fallon, who once said that the U.S. wouldn’t be following Cheney into war in Iran on his watch, has been pushed out. The armchair generals on the right are ecstatic… And, you might not hear about it on TV, but, in a few days, we’ll be celebrating our fifth anniversary as occupiers of Iraq… But the only thing the braying jackasses in the press want to talk about is Eliot Spitzer and how desperately he wanted a woman to suck his cock without a condom.

Perhaps we could get Dr. Laura to blow him without a condom?

Dr. Laura to me looks like the female scientist ape in Planet of the Apes. I suspect that might turn some guys on. It doesn’t do much for me though.

Wait… wait… you mean to tell me Dr. Laura has made mistakes before? Well, that does it! Nobody who has ever made mistakes can ever point out that something is right or wrong or give any helpful advice, even if they’ve turned their lives around and have undergone a religious conversion.

I wouldn’t rely on sensationalistic second-hand accounts of her comments. Did you actually see the video? The whole video? Did you watch and listen carefully? Dr. Laura was not excusing Spitzer, who is probably a malignant narcissist.

She was talking about “in general” – Dr. Laura says that ***IF*** you choose a GOOD man ***AND*** you treat him right, he will not stray. Nowhere does she excuse men for their decisions to commit adultery. However, she recognizes that if a wife isn’t living by her marital vows (which are more than just “forsaking all others”), THEN a man is more likely not to live by his, either.

You don’t have to like her or agree with her, but is it a good idea to spread false witness?

Your right – I don’t have to agree with her, and I don’t. I don’t have to like her, and I don’t. Nice beaver on her by the way – nothing false about those knockers either!

@ Ken, How is Mark ‘spread(ing) false witness’ when he provides a link?

How are you not bearing witness yourself, by commenting your viewpoint (without any qualification, i might add)? We all bear witness by having an opinion.

Here is mine: be careful about spouting religious qualifications- they can and ***WILL*** be used to view your own comments. Here’s another one: I am under no obligation to be objectified by any man, especially if he is my husband, I am sorry to *HEAR FOR MYSELF* that Dr. Laura thinks so. (In regards to wedding vows: I do remember forsaking all others, I don’t remember to submitting to my husbands sexual will… maybe we had different vows?)

Well, to talk about the part in your post that actually matters…

I am so utterly pissed off at the partisan left and the idiots like those at Daily Kos for marginalizing Ron Paul. So we’re stuck with either McCain, who wants to bomb Iran in song form, or Clinton or Obama, who either don’t understand or don’t care who is still lending us money to go to war and cut taxes at the same time when we already have $9 trillion in debt.

I agree that “the media” should be discussing important things — but please remember that they take their cues from the public. In other words, with notable exceptions, they are giving the people what they want.

I have had two major responses to the Spitzer thing, both PI, and contradictory. One: does a guy who had an enormous public mandate and reportedly did a lot of good for the State of NY have to resign and call everything that came before a failure just because of his sexual behavior? Why are we so fixated on the sexual behavior of our leaders?

Two: if Hillary did this, or any other powerful woman, would her husband be caught dead standing silently behind her as she confessed? Doubtful. It’s a sexist sham on so many levels.

[As an aside, this blog would not let me post a comment that referred to my sexual orientation, which is not straight. Huh. ]

    Screw the censors, Lisele!

One of my favorite books is entitled: Andogeny. It speaks of sexuality in terms of a spectrum rather than an either/or male-female versus “twisted” existence.

We’re all who we are somewhere along that spectrum.

I’ve always wondered if the Gay rainbow banner was devised for that reason, even more so on the Androgeny book itself. It’s a fabulous read.

Besides all that … what do we expect a Mrs. Spitzer to do? It’s SPITZer … for pete’sake! She’s a SPITZer!

It’s nothing personal, Lisele. I promise. There are just a bunch of words that, because they show up quite often in spam ads, are blocked from the comments section. If you purposely misspell the word a bit, and try again, it should work.

As for all this other stuff, I don’t think that I was bearing false witness against Dr. Laura. I linked to a video. People can watch it and make up their own minds. Personally, I think she was way off base. I think she’s often way off base. To even suggest that the Governor’s wife was in anyway responsible for his use of prostitutes, in my opinion, is preposterous. It reminds me of when people blame the victims of rape for dressing too provocatively… Men, after all, as we all know, can’t control themselves.

Looks like Ms. Dupre might be getting that “reality” television show.

No word yet on the future prospects of the prostitute caught servicing the husband of our Senator, Debbie Stabenow.
