Clementine and I just got back from a University of Michigan Women’s Gymnastics meet. We had a really good time watching the Michigan team take on the women from Arkansas and West Virginia. As I was sitting there, watching these very fit young women throwing themselves into the unparallel bars, vaulting through the air, and doing flips on the balance beam, I couldn’t help but think that I was totally fucking brilliant. My daughter was completely happy, and I hope this doesn’t make me sound like an old letch, but I can think of many, many things less desirable than watching beautiful young women performing breathtaking acts of athleticism. So, as I sat there, I couldn’t help but think about all the much less intelligent fathers in the world, sitting through god-awful trash like Barney on Ice, and spending a ton of money in the process. Looking around at the other fathers in the audience, I got the sense that they were thinking the same thing.

So awesome Mark. I’m totally going to take Ella to one of those once she gets a little older. Thanks for the laugh, man, you’re too funny…
I’ll have to remember that :) for future reference.
You’re not even 40 yet, and you’re already a dirty old man.
Ever see a photo of Nadia Comanicie at 40? (G)oogle and enjoy, gentlemen.
Thank God you took her there and not the monster truck Jam at the Palace.
“A lot of guys tell me my wife is a 10 and I say ‘No, my wife is the 10. Thank you very much.”
I predict women’s swimming and diving is next and by summer Mark and Clementine will be shadowing the beach volley circuit.
Let’s just hope Linette intervenes before it gets to this.
Nice idea Mark. I took my daughter Sophia to see the men’s swimming and diving meet that day. She loved seeing the diving. We may need to check out the gymnastics sometime.
The U-M women won that match too! The team total was 196.075. The University of Arkansas squad had 195.250, and the team from West Virginia University had 190.300.
