Today’s “New York Times” included a message from their Editorial Board. Here’s a clip:
…Ever since 9/11, we have watched Republican lawmakers help Mr. Bush shred the Constitution in the name of fighting terrorism. We have seen Democrats acquiesce or retreat in fear. It is time for that to stop.
I guess the folks at the “New York Times” have finally had enough. After well over half a decade of watching the Constitution be shredded, they’ve decided that it’s time to take bold, decisive action and speak out. Their courage is truly inspirational.

Speaking of the NSA’s wiretapping operation (which is what, specifically, the NYT Editorial Board was referring to), we’re now being told by former Qwest CEO Joseph Nacchio that it was in existence before the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
Could the various Mark’s designate themselves more succinctly? Perhaps a last name initial or “Mark not Mark” or something. I am no longer sure whom to plaud or disparage.
It took the Washington Post about 5 years to run a piece apologizing for not covering any of the anti-war debate in Congress during the run-up to the war. I tend to picture many of the Post and NYT writers as simply representing one half of a debate team at an elite university (with Maureen Dowd starring as the Bad Girl). In the end, they all go back to their dorms and party with the other side.
