You and I are kindred spirits. I too live as though it were 1865. At least from the neck up. Go below that and you see a lovely vision of the future. Actually it’s not that uncommon. Many of us Civil War reenactors shave and wax our bodies. It’s a nice way to unwind after battle.
Once, after I hadn’t shaved in several months, I decided I wanted to see what I’d look like with mutton chops. I shaved my chin and upper part of both cheeks. I left the mustache which attached to the sideburns. I thought it was pretty cool, but then I noticed women, children, and just nice people in general were avoiding me. Then creepy guys with old white vans kept nodding to me in some sort of acknowledgment. I liked the beard, but the cost to my personal life was too high. I had to shave it. I tried to find a civil war reenactment I could participate in before I took it off, but to no avail. I really looked like a civil war colonel.
I recommend shaving off the sides and the middle of the chin and leaving the rest, so the mustache curves downward. It’s the upside-down handlebar look, or the Rainbow Stache. Todd Jones from the Tigers has one. I had one going for about ten minutes when I shaved off my summer beard, but I got creeped out just looking at myself in the mirror. But if you can pull it off, it’s the best.

Civil War? Huh. I always took you more for one of these.

I agree. I think the Todd Jones look would look very attractive.
I was wondering if you still had your job, or if you were letting that go, too.
Will you be getting rid of your other beard (Linette) too?
And what did you answer?
“You got a problem with that?”
