kitchen nightmares

Have you seen the British television show “Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares“? It’s a pretty good premise for a show. Ramsey, a chef, goes into a failing restaurant, spends a week there, kicks ass, and tries to turn it around. It’s really compelling stuff. There’s been some speculation that parts are staged, but, having worked in a few kitchens myself, I think it’s probably 90% legitimate. (I didn’t buy the part where he ran out of the room to vomit up what he claimed to be a rancid scallop. The rest of it, I think, was probably pretty accurate though.)

But, then again, I also thought that the story about the restaurant in Japan where people got to make love to their main course before it went into the oven might be true.

With each new episode, my love for Chef Ramsey doubles.
