ellsberg on the bush administration

Daniel Ellsberg, the Defense Department analyst who leaked the Pentagon Papers, hastening the end of the Vietnam War, said the following at a speaking engagement last week at American University:

..I think nothing has higher priority than averting an attack on Iran, which I think will be accompanied by a further change in our way of governing here that in effect will convert us into what I would call a police state…

No that I don’t think he’s right about this, but it should be noted that Ellsberg also believes the Bush administration could have been somehow involved, or at least complicit, in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

So, let me get this right; It’s been revealed that Daniel Ellsberg is one of those crazy conspiracy theorists so we probably shouldn’t have ever trusted him on that whole ‘Pentagon Paper’ stuff? ;) (Sorry, Mark, it feels like I can’t help it.)

I’m surprised that, of the hundreds of people who see this post per day, nobody is jumping in here to call this guy crazy, or to offer some sort of support of his suggestion. Do people have no opinion on stuff like this? It seems highly provocative and yet nobody responds.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Iran. I think Israel will take care of it for us. And we in the West will decry such recklessness, but “things” will be taken care of quite nicely. Just like the mysterious raid into Syria last week. Nothing will be said. Bingo. Bango. Done.

As for the police state … it’s already here, voted upon on both sides of the aisle.

And the war with Iran just got a little closer today with the the Lieberman-Kyl resolution.

And, as for your question, Robert, the new TV season started this week.

There’s no big profits in Israel taking care of it. It’s important that we set up and maintain an ongoing conflict to generate the sufficient profit opportunities.
