maproom systems is not languishing

Brett came out to the brewery to help me say goodbye to Vonnegut. I bought him a beer and he forgave me for saying on this site that his blog, Maproom Systems, was languishing. Nope. Unlike Ypsi-Dixit, Brett is alive and well. Actually, and I’m not just saying this because I’m afraid of making Brett angry, although I am, and you should all be too, his post on Vonnegut is really quite good. (Speaking of The DIxit, I’m happy to report that she’s alive. She peddled by me earlier this afternoon.)

update: Murph and Cara showed up a little after I posted this. Then, a few minutes later, an MM.com reader who calls herself Mitten came over, introduced herself, and pointed us toward the official Vonnegut vigil, which was across the room. (Somehow we’d missed the table covered in Vonnegut photos.) It turns out that another MM.com reader, Edweird, was there, along with a half dozen or so other folks. I had another beer. We talked about Vonnegut. It was nice.

Based on those photos, I refuse to believe that he is alive and well. Frankly, I find both assertions doubtful.

But yes, his post was quite nice.

    I admit to being languid.

    but not to languishing.

You know, I could have chosen a much scarier picture of Brett to illustrate this post.

It was really cool finally meeting you too. You caught me in one of my rare moments outside of my office or home. I really need to do that more often under less somber situations.
