My favorite local non-profit, Growing Hope, is having a prom for grown-ups next Saturday night, February 24, at the Corner Brewery. The event runs from 7:30 to 11:30, and there will be free swing dance lessons the first half-hour. Tickets are $18 per person in advance, and all proceeds go toward benefiting Growing Hope. Tickets can be purchased at the Ypsi Food Co-op or by calling Growing Hope at 786-8401.
(I’d go, if not for the fact that I think this could just be a giant ruse to get me there, on stage, holding a bouquet of flowers, thinking I’d been crowned prom king, so that John Travolta and his Scientologist friends could dump pigs’ blood over my head.)
