I’d heard yesterday that disgraced former Congressman Tom DeLay (R-TX) had joined the brotherhood of bloggers. What I hadn’t heard, until just now, however, is that, when his site launched, it did so without any mechanism in place to screen comments. Well, it took DeLay’s team 75 minutes to fix the problem, and, in that time, well over 100 comments were left for “The Hammer.” Fortunately, someone had the presence of mind to copy them all for our amusement. Here’s an example of one of the comments. (via Metafilter)
When you sign on to start helping Americans and Iraqis outside that green zone, maybe I’ll start taking you seriously. Until then you’re just another power hungry politico-criminal who has taken my belief system and values and exploited them to achieve your ends. You’re about as Christian as a horse’s ass, with scarcely a trace of integrity.
Now, if you want to leave a comment, you have to submit it to the site’s administrator, who then decides what goes on and what doesn’t. And here’s an example of one of those approved comments.
Dear Tom DeLay, may I say, we have missed you. Just your presence on the Web has given me a sense of security. There are many of us that know the Democrats lied and forced you out but, you will have your day! In the meantime, we are here and waiting to help. If we pull together and stay together, we can defeat these Liberals that are ruining our country. God be with you, just tell us what we can do.
The difference between the “before” comments and the “after” comments is really striking. Check it out.

Now I think he’s a crooked jackass blogger who deserves a long, long sentence.
Ouch, terrible pun, I know.
So, is he going back into the pest control business now that he’s out of the House?
Wha… how many of those “you will have your day” comments do you think were written by Tom himself. Hilarious.
My favorite comment:
“Everyone already assumes bloggers are unemployed losers… thanks for reinforcing that stereotype….”
I liked the fact that several of the first comments, the really negative ones, seem to be from Republicans. Here’s an example:
This was a very nice compliment to my copy of The Big Buy that came this week. Hysterical comments for a very scary scumbag.
Here, completely without context, is a post I just left elsewhere:
Speaking of whores with hearts of gold, did you see that ex-House Majority Leader Tom DeLay was sentenced to 3 years in prison for money laundering?
