‘think local first’ brings michael shuman to ann arbor

The kids at Think Local First (Living Economy Network) are having their first fundraiser this Wednesday evening, when noted economist, attorney, author, and entrepreneur Michael Shuman, author of the book “The Small-Mart Revolution: How Local Businesses Are Beating the Global Competition,” comes to town to talk about the vital role of small, independent businesses in healthy, sustainable communities, and how these businesses can be even more effective in fighting their big box competition.     Do any Ypsi folks know anything about the new “Rocket” shop on Michigan Ave or the “Silent Cat Martini Bar” for that matter?

    The Rocket kicks ass. I don’t believe they use that catch phrase in their advertising, but they should consider using it.

    There are actually several service providers on Michigan Avenue that lick ass. I believe the going rate is about $15.

    It does indeed kick ass; it is also locally owned and the owner seems quite enthusiastic about being part of the community…
