the insurgency in iraq

The episode of Frontline entitled “The Insurgency” is incredibly good. If it’s yet to air in your area, you should watch it. Everyone should watch it… While we’re on the subject of Iraq, I just wanted to apologize for not posting anything yet on the current wave of sectarian violence taking place in the wake of last week’s bombing of one of Iraq’s holiest Shiite shrines, the 1,200 year old Askariya shrine. As usual, I’ve found that Juan Cole is among the best sources for up to date information. If you’d prefer to hear a different perspective, however, there’s always Karl Rove, who somehow thinks that it might be a good thing. (And, apparently, some conservative commentators are agreeing that this is a sign of a sign of Bush’s success.)
