The BBC is airing a series by Oxford professor Richard Dawkins on the subject of religion and whether or not it’s the “root of all evil.” (You can find an article about it in the Guardian by clicking here.) I’ve only seen one short clip, but, if I had to guess, I’d say that Dawkins is of the opinion that, yes, religion is most certainnly is the root of all evil. (If you follow that last link, it’ll take you to One Good Move, where’s there’s apparently audio of the entire program. The video is just of a single, brief, bizarre exchange between Dawkins and a Stepford Wife-like defender of Intelligent Design.)
update: Norm at One Good Move has posted another video clip, and I highly recommend it. (And, for those too scared to follow the link, don’t worry – it doesn’t have any “devil-lipped” cultists in it like the last one.)

I would argue that religious fanatacism is the root of all evil, not religion in and of itself. Maybe that’s splitting hairs, but I think the distinction is important.
OK, WTF was that? I hereby decree in my land of evolution accepting heretics, evengelical, or at least those denying evolution, will no longer rationally be able to avail themselves of the “miracles” of modern medicine. From now on they will have to rub snakes on their bodies or holy oil or WTF ever. Oh yeah, and they cannot use any FDA approved medicines either. Just aromatherapy and nutraceuticals.
That dude LOOKED like the devil-those lips?
If we get rid of religion, we would no longer have people like Mississippi Gary.

Shouldn’t it be “The love of religion is the root of all evil”?
One Good Move has posted another clip. I’ll update the post with a link to it.
